I know this an old thread, but I am in the same situation and I can't find replacement blades.
I plan on putting it in the loft of my shack to gravity feed a small sink for washing etc. and I don't have the space for a tote.
Rinsing. Any remaining would be drained nightly
I am looking for a way to store 150-200 gallons of permeate. Can I use either a Rubbermaid stock tank or a TSC galvanized stock tank both of which are not food grade?
Very nice! Thanks for sharing!
I looked into condensate pumps as suggested by John above and it looks like (the ones where I've found specs on so far) are only rated for 140 degrees. How hot does condensate get?
Hi John this is great info. We don't have running water in our sugar shack either. I looked up condensate pumps and they aren't that expensive. This will work with hot water OK? How much hot water...
Nice, thanks. I wonder how much condensate my set-up will produce?
Great info! How high did you pump the water to the poly tank? Did you use a check valve in the system anywhere?
Well, this brings up another question. Now that we have the hood and pre-heater, we won't be able to see when the pan wants to foam over which seems to happen at least once or twice per year. Most of...
This link takes me to Bascom's home page not a particular book/item. Am I missing something?
We just got a hood and pre-heater for our evaporator and I'm looking for suggestions on how I can collect and utilize the hot condensation from the set-up. We have a 2x6 evaporator so a 4'...
I want to find an easy way to label our syrup batches. We bottle everything in glass so it needs to be able to either be marked, or adhered easily to the bottom of the jars. What does everyone else...
I may be wrong, but I believe they have a mark on them to indicate the depth they should be set to.
I use 3/16 lines and 5/16 for the drops as well for the same reasons Maple Flats mentioned above.
We will be there! I am looking forward to meeting you!
We made the 4 hour trip and were happy with it. I was also frustrated about the prices not being on the items. CDL had one of those scanner guns that you could check the price, but the gun was a...
I don't have a high vacuum set-up. I used 3 lunchbox style soda pumps last year with 3 collection tanks. I have one days' data and I don't remember if it was a high flow day or not. For this snapshot...
I just Googled it and I see what you mean. I can see that it would be very helpful during bottling.
I don't know what the old fill stop was...? Does anyone have photos/video of one?
Also, just a question: why do you feel the new system wastes syrup?
I don't have electric in my sugar bush so I have been using lunchbox releasers (4 so far) to get some vacuum on my lines. Has anyone ever used theirs with a mainline? All of my lines are currently...
I see that companies make end line tee's for 5/16 and for 3/16 tubing, but does anyone make a combination? I use 3/16 tubing with 5/16 drops so I'd need 3/16 (open) - 5/16 (open) - 3/16 (closed)...
Fill stop...? Do you mean klike their new "Handy Filler"?

I have one line over 1,000' with 35 taps on it. 80' change in elevation.
OK, so at two years you are still ay $0.90 with check valves and $0.60 with Zap Bac but you have the added labor of replacing the check vales every year vs. 2-3 with Zap Bac correct?
