Very nice offer Blair.
The/your consumer is always right. Smart move to go back to what they want.
Lots of people get defensive/upset when they hear that most people prefer non RO'd syrup cooked on flat pans.
That's what it's all about!
Were all your pans, flue type pans? I know I usually prefer syrup that's batch boiled in a flat pan over syrup that spends minimal time boiling in a flue pan.
Tapped 50 of my 150 this afternoon after work. 90% were running like mad. Gonna take off work at noon tomorrow and finish them up.
Yes it will work for this year
I know some guys on vacuum are having decent runs here in Clark county this past week. The few I've heard on bags/buckets, not so much. I know I'm holding off for awhile yet.
Where at in central WI?
Lots of truths in that article. All the 'technology' IMO hasn't been great for the average consumers appeal towards maple syrup. (taste and image)
If you're not selling the syrup, I'd just use the settling method.. easy peasy
TONS of people do it just like this.
Good deal!
Man you're paying 18.3cents a point?
Way better than what I get!
 I like that one!
I thought you were gonna stay smaller and try to make it enjoyable??;)
I use solid clay bricks in my diy barrel evaporator. A few of them do have cracks in them after a few years but big deal. I'd try it, worst that could happen is it doesn't work and you have to...
Swingpure, I wouldn't sweat about too expensive of a pan if I was you. Once/if you get your RO up and running and fine tune your wood/draft to get a HOT fire you'll be sitting just fine. It doesn't...
Good deal.
You should have some full bags when you get back. It ran all night last night. Some of the bags were just about over the top tonight. But some also had very little, which you can expect this time of...
Picked up about 80 gallons tonight (from the last 24 hours) on the 100 bags I have left that the d@mn squirrels don't have holes chewed in. Which I would say is pretty decent for this late in the...
Yep, and make sure the fire has plenty of draft underneath it(natural is fine). That sap should be boiling violently with your setup. Looking good and keep after it!
I'm between Neillsville and Greenwood. I tapped on Saturday, not enough sap to even collect yet, a few bags might have a couple quarts in them. I have 120 taps on mostly red maples.
Get over your high and mighty selves..
Hopefully your sap isn't froze up hard in the morning..
Lots of backyarders go 'past' syrup when boiling, and then add sap or distilled water when finishing elsewhere. Saves a lot of propane/electric/time.
