No,no snokie sitings either. Wish I had thier money, get me a nice 2x4 evaporator.
Been doing well, have 18 gallons so far, some trees producing like Niagara Falls, some bone dry. Will boil over weekend and tap a few more trees.
Good luck, love up in Sussex, do a lot of camping in Stokes SF. Love the coffee at Joes to go on RT206.
Good idea on piling up the snow, Ill put in the shade and it will last awhile. Got a gallon of sap tonight, some trees producing and some bone dry.
Tapped 11 trees today,if it flows might tap a few more.
Glad to hear trees running. I was going to tap 10 or so trees on Sunday, but bagged it to go clamming. Going to wait till mid febuary. After last nights winds glad I did, Id have buckets all over the...
Im done, pulled the buckets off the trees. Worst year for me in 3 years of doing this. Ended the season with only 10oz of syrup. No snow, warm winter is my thought for the bad year.
Your crushing it, have a whopping 10 oz and only collected 3 gallons of sap this week. Good luck.
Nice, not doing all that well along the beach. Only 7 gallons so far. Have friday off, so will boil.
Your doing well, only 5 gallons for the week. If it does not pick up I will not come near my hopeful goal of 2 gallons made this year.
Yes, its a silver maple.
Where are you at? up the mountians? I am getting some sap from my sugar maples, but my white maples are almost bone dry. 5 sugars tapped, and 5 whites tapped and only 3 gallons since Sunday.
Funny, no snokie around here in Monmouth Beach, thats all Seaside Heights, completely different world. Tapped 10 trees, 4 sugar's and 6 whites. We will see how it goes.
Tapped a tree last night as a test. Been warm all winter and the tree only produced a few oz of sap. Going be a odd year I think.
Tell me about that one. Drove from Narragansett RI to home after a 90th birthday party for one of wifes aunts. Connecticut was a disaster, tappen zee bridge a disaster, Rockland County a disaster. No...
Well, we have had no snow at all so far this year. It also has not been all that cold, only a few days below freezing. Its at least another month before I would tap, but just wondering if the lack of...
75 Gallons, way to go. Love R.I. spent 10 straight years on vacation in Narraganset, used to take the kids to some kid playground up in hope valley. Place closed down a few years ago but the bumper...
That is some operation you have going.
3.75 gallons of syrup :o, I would not be sad that would be a banner year for me. I hope next year to hit a gallon. I enjoy giving out small, 8 oz samples, to friends hunting/fishing partners. I hope...
Well can't say if jersey syrup is as good as any, but I can't wee why not. I like mine.
Yea, your hooked. Enjoy, it is harmless, untill the wife steps in and says, you can't put kids through college on maple trees
Yea I don't what my ratio is. I am not sure I boil it all down correctly. I think I could get another 20 percent of a boil done on the stove as my syrup is a bit runny. I like it but I am a bit...
Surf Taco, love the place. Hit the one in Long Branch after a morning dawn patrol that drags into lunch. Spend a lot of time on LBI in the summer, better surfing waves and my kids enjoy staying with...
Well, I finished my year of syrup. Ended up with about 92oz of syrup which beat my goal of a half gallon. Very dark syrup, and taste great. Was able to tone down the fire to eliminate the "burnt"...
