Hi Dave. Thanks. Everybody on here, at some point (or points!) during the sugar making process, has uttered the words, "What the heck is that noise?". All we all can do is compare noises and their...
Good to hear it's back to normal. Nobody needs extra work or worry during maple season!

I have a 30+ year old Airablo R.O., which is basically an older version of Springtech. As I understand it, D&G bought out Airablo way back when, and then also made RO's for Leader. Anyway, I don't...
What's the difference between Amazon's citric acid and the suppliers? Amazon can ship but they can't?

Without seeing your machine, and only going by mine, I'm thinking you must have a bad cup seal (or o-ring?) at the membrane housing end cap or a bad o-ring on the adaptor (if you have those) that...
A month late and not to size! Wow. That's a shame. I would be having a long and unpleasant talk with the rep. and D&G right now if it were me. You didn't buy a 2x4 from the lumber store, you...
Wow. I have never, ever heard anyone say, "bigger than what I need" when describing a garage, barn, outbuilding, work space, storage space or sugarhouse! Lol. I do remember your post about the...
I agree. Many users are long gone now and the reasons are obvious. With all the issues and lack of photo posting abilities, this site is a far cry from what it used to be. Fortunately, I do not...
I have no official answer for that question, but it's a good question. All I can tell you is that I've gone idle with mine for over a week due to an extended cold snap and had no issues starting up...
I practice the art of repurposing as often as I can- ask anyone who knows me. However, if were me, I would not use that piece of equipment for food making purposes. Yes, it's probably clean and all...
I only have experience with selling to a single restaurant. They wanted three gallons a month. I sold them three, gallon jugs at $50 retail price and everybody was happy- until the restaurant...
As Dr. Tim mentioned, that time will vary, depending on the initial sap quality. I once held 12% concentrate for a week and it made great syrup. However, it was early season sap and was crystal...
I'm not familiar with black-capped ends- is it an o-ring or a "cup" style seal? I have cups and they will sometimes leak a little upon first startup. They need presssure to seal, its how they work....
Ken,
Your last sentence is the way to go. All the other ways are going to be a lot of work, the results will be varied and you might not get the temp. low enough for "safe" storage.
Bulk tanks...
There's two good ideas.

Yes, restarting is a pain, but the bucket plan will work fine. It'll save the pans and eliminate worry. The sweet probably won't freeze solid, even in the pails, but pails are expendable! Good...
And yes on the damaged pans. Damaged pans will be waaay more demoralizing than some lost sap and/or syrup. The sweet may only skim over with thin ice and not freeze solid- but why take the chance...
Well, the sweet will probably "keep" in those temps. but I would not let it freeze in the pans. Knowing it could be a long time before the next boil, I would finish what you have and start again...
I can't speak for all tanks, and certainly not for what is considered old and new, but the thread on my tanks is called sanitary thread. Search for sanitary fittings and I would think you would come...
You can also "fine tune" the amount air going in by blocking off some of the intake area on the squirrel cage blower. This, too, will help get you to the point Tcross mentioned. Being able to fire...
Agreed. Not much traffic on here compared to how it used to be. Anyway, thanks for the reply and good luck this season!

Wow. Nobody? I remember when there were all sorts of conversations on here both prior to and right after the conference every year. The seminar topics, the speakers and what was seen and learned...
I was wondering if anyone on here went to the conference this year? If so, how was it? I could not attend it and I have not seen any comments on it so I was just curious.
Thanks.
Steve
I have a line longer than that with a little over forty taps on it. However, it is coming down a mountain side, so that helps.
I remember taking in a presentation by Professor Tim Wilmot, the...
