I agree with danno, the vac pump didn't shut for 8 days last year and we boiled every day. Other people pulled their taps.

If your running high VAC I would avoid threads. They can leak under vacuum.

I use TremPro 644 made by Tremco. It's a high temp Silicone in a tube.

Use basswood to make a frame and cover it with plastic. Basswood dosen't have and sap or pitch that will leach out and get in the amber gold.
