I think you will be much happier with that procon set up if you put it on a 4 by 40 , and have a by pass or recirc on the cons line. I have a small pro con with a 1/3hp and get about 20 gph at 10%...
Thanks for all the updates Spud, have a great summer
Yes a single post 4 by 40 that I put together, crunches it to about 10%, a bit slow , but I'll fix that before next season. Still saves me a bunch of fire wood.
Good luck with whats left of the...
I think this is it for me , I'm also at a cloudy 1% . pretty much just getting the permeate now for the shut down and clean up. Good luck with the rest of the season.
I use a thermos of of hot water for my main line connects it works fine for a few fittings. I used to do the same for drops and sprouts but bought the tool for that, it was around 150 but it saves me...
Sap was very slow today and getting cloudy , at about 1.5%. Just starting to snow here now and is in the forecast for the next 3 days . I've got a tank of cons I'll boil tomorrow, see what happens,...
Yes , we used to keep bee's in our sugar bush . Maple is an early food source and makes great honey. I saw a few around in February this season during a warm spell..We had to stop as the bears were...
Sap still coming in good and is nice and clear, no change to the buds . Forecast looks great might get another week. Hope my wood holds, got about half cord left.
Good luck everyone
Well I got all done putting new drops on and tapped in by 3/5, I missed a lot of early flow this year but historically the last 2-3 weeks of March have been best for me here on Cabot Mt. The trees...
Thanks for the answers, it seems like a leak nightmare to me. I just can't figure way they would do it.
I've seen a few videos of some big producers using quick connects on their drops , collecting them at the end of the season with sprouts on. Do they reuse after washing? Or do they just make new...
Thanks, my stove pipe is 6 inches. I'l try an inch and quarter or inch and half.
I have a home built 2 foot by 7 foot evaporator with a 3 foot 3 chamber syrup pan that boils very well. The flue pan is flat 4 by 2. The fire box is under the syrup pan only. I have 3 inch to 2...
2 fav's, the start of the season, and the end of the season. Least fav , waist deep snow.
Well looking at the forecast for next week I made the call to pull the taps while I can walk on the snow with out snow shoes. Season turned out pretty normal for me. The woods are full of snow, to my...
Seems to have turned into a pretty normal season here on Cabot Mt. Still lots of snow, tree wells opening up in the sunny spots. This week forecast looks great. Sap running great today, and clear at...
The weirdness continues, after a few days of meager flows on seaming perfect days and thinking the season is over before it really began for me, I took the morning off to run to town . Its 29...
I bring a thermos of very hot water to dip the main in and they slide right on.
Finally got tapped in last week , had some days that I thought it would run good but it was slow. Yesterday it hit 50 and only a light flow. More than a foot of snow and ground is frozen. I missed...
I got mine on ebay.
I need a 4 by 40 replacement membrane, none of the ones that I look at say for sap use, mostly brackish or salt water listed in 2-300 dollar range. Will these work as well? or is there certain ppm #...
CDL , Lancaster NH is buying syrup today and tomorrow , April 29,30. I brought in about 100 gallon of dark, was paid 2.50 , 2.20 for very dark.
I have built 2 ro's now , 1 with 4 150 gpd membranes , and one with 4 , 400 gpd membranes. Both worked as I wished they would. I am going to start on a 4 inch by 40 inch single post system soon. My...
