Sap has been running 750gph off 3750 taps since 1pm. The releaser hasn't stopped pumping since 1. I think it's time to upgrade the pump?
Sugar content jumped from 1.5 to1.9.
Getting back at it Dave? I sold my Sp22 to Goodrich maple a few weeks ago. Most likely still available.
Spud! Welcome back. I look forward to seeing your updates again. Best of luck on your new venture!
Ken that's awesome! I've only made 770 off 4000...but we will go until sap turns sour.
Dr. Tim. Where are you guys production wise? Have you hit .5?
Tcross are you around Lyndonville area? My woods is doing the same but I check my raw and the first 3600 gallons came in at 3%! I have CDL techs who can substantiate my story! This woods has never...
350 taps. It's almost a mile to the releaser so I'm trying to avoid that. Which it why I was gonna try connecting it to the wetline.
Ok Traders,
I once again come to you to be smarter (or better at Google) than I.
Is it possible to pump sap within the vacuum system?
Instead of pulling sap up hill with a sap ladder I want...
Your a tougher man that I! Prayers headed your way.
No words were ever said more true.
Wiam, I live in Wheelock and would enjoy coming to see your woods setup and talk practices with you.
I'm a solid believer in 30p 3/16 from leader.
I won't have final numbers for several days and am actually away on vacation (left this afternoon) for a little over a week.
This statement spoken like a true sugar maker. On vacation and still...
Buyers called it a season today. 70,000 gallons of sap with an average sugar content of 1.59% for a grand total of 1290 gallons of syrup. All in all a good season. Happy de-tapping!
Another 2600 gallons of 1-1.1% this morning. Not sure if the sap will run into tomorrow or not. The quality of syrup is still table grade and sap quality is still looking acceptable.
I run the wire loose enough to to be able to wire tie the tubing to it loosely, I then tension the wire to hight, I then use a ratchet strap and pull tension on the tubing. I'd post pics if I could.
Sap started coming well again this afternoon with great color and taste. Boiled well with minimal issues. Maybe we will get through the weekend after all! Sap testing at 1.1. Still higher than last...
Am I correct that you can use slightly stringy syrup for candy, sugar, or cream?

Awesome. I'm helping a new producer setting up a new woods and was wondering if I should advise this method. I look forward to the updated book as well!
A while back Dr. Tim posted on here about only using one drop per tree no matter what the size. I believe he said that's what they do at the PMRC.
Dr. Tim, what are the pro's and con's of this...
You have 2500 taps on a 2x6? My lord man do you sleep?
As of today I used my releaser dump cycle to calculate approximately what my flow is. On one woods I was flowing at 408 gph about .18 per tap per hour on a piece with ~2300 and my releaser dumped 52...
Wicked run here today. Flowing at 720 gallons per hour at 730pm.
