One question, why the 5/16" drops? Why not us 3/16" for all?
Thanks.

Thanks.
Two days of flow in Midland county, not great, but it is a start.
Let the long nights begin!
I'm thinking about next year already.
I have a small stand of red maples at the back of my property that I currently use spiles and bags on.
I'd like to set up a sureflow pump and run a line back...
I have never really measured the through put of my system, but I would say I get about 2.5 - 3 GPH.
Good comment on the pressure rating of my components.
A few years ago I built a RO. I use 4 100GPD membranes, and a small pump that max's out at about 80 PSI.
I would like to increase my throughput on the RO and would like to know if I went to a 150...
I've got my concentrate like restricted to a fast drip, that is the only way I can get to 80 psi. If I open the flow up any more, I can only get to 4% or so.
Interesting, I'll have to see if mine has adjustment. It never occurred to me to read directions. :)
No, I don't. I may try that, but then it is harder for me to get the sap into the container.
I have a different pump on order that I want to try, it is a self priming pump that is supposed to get up...
Thanks for the replies. It sounds like I may not be as bad off as I thought.
What changes should I make to increase my through put for next year, I just can't keep up any more.
I can only seem to get it up to 80 psi with the current pump.
Hello, I've got a DIY RO setup that I put together and I am starting to wonder if I am running it correctly.
I have the aquatec 8800 pump, filter and 4 100gpd membranes.
It takes about 8 hours...
I've been using this pump for about two weeks now. So far so good.

What tubing would you use for one of these diaphragm pumps?
The tubing I'm finding says that it is good for natural vacuum. Would this type work?
With 6 150GPD membranes, do you need to scale up your pump capacities?
I definitely noticed the rate change as the concentrate level went up.
Do you try to make 7.5% on one pass? or do you do multiple passes?
Thanks for all the great input and help!
I have the Aquatec 8800 pump and (4) 100 GPD membranes.
Would it make more sense to try to get to the high % in one slow pass, or run it through twice at a faster rate?
Good information.
It looks like my pump is capable of about 100 psi, or maybe a little more.
As far as the quality of my membranes, I would assume they are on the low end of the quality scale....
OK, so I just built my first RO system following the posts here. Thanks to all that put together information so that the rest of us can easily get started.
Anyway, now that my little unit is...
Thank you Cedar Eater.
This is a great thread, thanks!
For those of us that don't understand electrical things, could you explain what the PID controller is and what it does?
I tapped 30 trees yesterday(Sat) and has sap right away, It also ran all night.
I see the forecast is showing 50's next weekend.
That is good to know, as a beginner, my brain tells me bigger is better. Thank you.
I've been wondering the same thing.
Last year was my first year tapping, I got my first sap on the 19th.
I was thinking about putting a few taps in this weekend and just wait to see what happens....
Looks great, thanks for posting the photo's.
I'm thinking about building one myself, so looking at yours helps me a lot in my planning.
Question for you, did you brick the entire inside? or use...
I live between Midland and Mt. Pleasant.
And you?
