Looking for some help on a milk tank. I have 1 tank that I have a fitting for. And another it doesn't fit. It’s about the same size but threads are just a little different. Measures about 2” outside...
Thank you all! Will attempt in next week or so. Talked to a guy today that said to search lineman wire repair connection. Haven’t had a chance yet.
So how do you put them together?
I do like the gripples but trying to use supplies I have. Hired out main lines to be installed. They did a great job! Really like the repair wire. Can use it to make a neat connection to the next...
Does anyone know of a online video that shows how to join high tensile wire ends using repair wire? Can probably figure it out but would like to watch it being done.
Thanks
Agreed. I wouldn't use any hardware that threads into the trees either. I have used a small pipe wrench and they come right out.
So we bought land that has sugarwoods that has been previously tapped. Probably been 5+ years. The lines have all been removed. What they did not remove is the screw in anchors they used for main...
In our town we were told we had to apply for a permit through the ag department to build a sugarhouse. Anyone else ever hear that?
Thank you!
I have a Alamo 40 that has a electric motor on it now. I’m planning to use it with a gas engine as I will have no power where we will be using it. Does the pump need to be kept warm or will it be ok...
Yes. It will keep the transmission from shifting as much and will down shift on declines. Saves the brakes. Owners manual explains it well.
Blowing into the holes I don’t think will effect the final product since it is boiled and hopefully canned at 180 degrees. . The point is it has the chance to introduce bacteria that can cause the...
Never suppose to blow or stick anything other then a spout into hole after drilling. Spend the money of a good tapping bit. Drill on high speed in and out and hole should be clean. Never had another...
All good advice. Thanks. Have used the black D&G spouts most years. Last year used a mix of those and clear (mostly clear). Never got a good run. It’s a cold bush so what Tim said makes sense. Think...
So what are people using for spouts this year? We have used the black D&G spouts. Last year we had some of them and some of the clear CDL spouts. We get pretty good natural vacuum on most of our...

Syrup was 205 degrees. Broke down the press and checked papers and didn’t find any that were torn. That’s what I had figured I would have found.
So ran the press tonight. Charged it with 6 cups. Filtered about 5 gallons perfectly. Got another couple draws shortly after. Press was still hot. Tried to run it through and DE was coming out the...
Wow! That’s a lot of good information. In the sugarhouse now. Probably our last boil. Will be running the press toward the end of the night. We have used aslittle as 1 cup and as much as 5 cups....
How are others charging there short bank press? How much DE are you adding? How hot is the syrup when you filter it? We have been struggling with ours. Finished results is perfect but we struggle...
First I want to say please don’t think we are crazy. Our buckets have been tapped for 2 months and most are still running strong. Have been full our running over many days this week. Sap yesterday...
That’s impressive!
