I have a guzzler pump on 300 taps and i get good vacuum most time -22-25". Sometimes though the sap just cycles back and forth about 4-5' in fron of the inlet.

what causes that?

I use oil but wondering if the nozzle pattern i have i believe its a B pattern is the right type for this application its a 45% 2.5 gph nozzle.

Wondering what burner nozzle type works best for a syrup system.

15 taps on a single tree is very bad as sugar making goes. When you make a tap hole an area of about 1 1/2 to 2 inches around and extended up and down from the tap hole becomes plugged with sugar...

gathered 200 gal. today sap was a little cloudy ran it through the R.O. got it to about 5.2% . Finished around 17:00
That's it for another year 175 liters.

Still early for buddy syrup John, when you hear the frogs look at the buds i gathered 700 liters today and boiled it down tonight and syrup was amber but tasted great.

Ya i mdae 10 gallons of syrup this week even though its early in the years it was Dark amber

Gathered 175 Gals. today boiled it in had an issue with my diagram pump which is a 100SE from Goodrich had to order the arm and bearing put me out of buisness for 3-4 days.

We got 280 taps in over the weekend another 75 this week and we will be done. Sap was pouring out of the trees on Sunday. Hooked up vacuum today had half the bush running at 20" by the end of the day...

We only have 3-4 inches of snow in our bush. Mild here as well in eastern Ont. Plus temps all this week with freezing at night prime sap weather but i think I will wait a few more weeks before Ii get...

What was the size of the housing and do you know what the prices were.

Thanks unfortunately I am in Canada so i lose 30% exchange on anything I purchase in the U.S. I don't know the capacity of my pump but it runs around 500 psi when its operating.

Ben my Model is the MRO 120 it uses three Dow filmtech XLE 4021's The pump is a Magikist Y81N High pressure triplex pump. Do you remember how much you paid for the housings.

I have an older Memteck RO that has three 4" x 20" membranes. They are housed in heavy fiberglass cylinders which has a three pieces interlocking brass ring set that fits in a groove on both ends....

Sean guess i was lucky I had him make me three adapters before he got sick.

I have three 4"x 20" membranes in my unit. I normally run it at 500 psi and that gets me to around 6. This is an old unit 1980 era so it will normally double whatever the raw sap coming in is.

Maybe 4% but not much more

Yes Joe also told me that the XLE means Extra Low but if I run mine at 300 I don't get much concentration. I called him for some advice last year and his wife told me he was sick , but I didn't know...
