You would be fine with that pump and 2 membranes IN PARALLEL, should give you 80-100 gallons of concentrate per hr. Providing you are ok with removing 50% water per pass to double your sugar, this is...
Keep in mind though, you'll want the doors closed during boiling for best evap, steam evacuation, ect.
I had the same situation. Ended up 8x10 because it was more cost effective material wise. We had a 2x3 and now a 2x6. Both fit, but don't count on room for a bunch of visitors! The rest of my...
Can you move your mainline further downhill, and extend your 3/16" lines with more 3/16" to achieve vacuum at the lowest trees? That would work for you.
I wouldnt short cycle the ro. I would reciculate into the sap tank until you get desired concentration and then pump to head tank from there. Youd have to be diligent about cleaning the sap tank more...
I have been happy with my lapierre junior 200. It performs exactly as advertised, with 100 gal water removal per hour at 50/50 concentrate permeate. I can certainly squeeze harder but i choose to...
If feel like any RO allowed to freeze will eventually incur damage, at the worst time too. Some of it may even go undetected for some time. I wouldnt trust it.
Mine are all connected to a manifold as well, and i push permeate up through them with the same shurflo pump I use for vacuum, switched around.
I used a shurflo pump to do the same, pump permeate up my mainline into 3/16. It was 40ft max elevation, 3-400ft runs, but I only used 15 psi. I'm no expert, but maybe you need a pump that pushes...
I have a different RO, but I leave my wash filter in for everything wash/rinse.
I like that idea, thanks
We ended our season on Friday, ended up making 72 gal of amber rich/robust. Puts us at .36gal/tap. We suffered from low sugar content with the long warm ups, and we do have quite a few smaller trees....
I have one large sugar maple that has similar damage, but it goes higher into the canopy as well, beyond what I would think a porcupine could access. Bark stripped right off like that though. I have...
Fire quick and often, and make sure that the fire doesnt clog itself with those frequent firings. Keep your levels the same for now, until you get used to reacting to the faster evap rate.
1.3 gpt last run, ro to 8%ish and boiled it today to make 6.5 gal. Heres to hoping the season holds on for me, the forecast looks like a big run mid week and then no freeze for 4 days
Yes, Brett. I just went out and cleared a bunch of stuff off my lines this morning. Its not great out there! Hope it warms up fast tomorrow and we get something after this.
Hi Ken! I bought your lapierre junior, its working great for us! Glad to see you are having a good season!
We had 1.7gpt as of yesterday when I got home from work, and then got another .4 gpt overnight. RO took 265 gallons of water out and we boiled our 10% until 1230 last night, made a little over 9.5...
Well, our sap was only 1.5 or so, and over the couple day run we got 1.4gpt, 275 gallons total. Kinda disappointing but im telling myself things are just waking up. My buckets ran the first half a...
Waking up, about .6 gpt so far and its thawing out more as we speak...
Thanks for the relplies! I was hoping to try it out today but we dont have enough sap to make it worth firing up.
Thanks, yeah I did notice there werent any recirculation pumps. However, it does seem to me that its plumbed in such a way that the high pressure pump will do some recirculation, which is better than...
Bump, nobody running this unit?
Hey guys, ive been lurking on here for quite some time, but this is my first post.
Id like to hear some feedback from others that have the same RO I do, I recently ended up with a lapierre junior...
