Thanks, will do
I recently had my first try at making sugar and it went OK but I am interested in getting some feedback.
I used about a pint of slightly scorched VDark, cooked to 259F, beat w a Kitchenaid...
Is the outside surface of the stack rough enough for lifting straps to get some purchase on? Maybe one on each side w come-a-longs to framing above? Give a call if you need a hand.

These look like they would work well for me in a couple places. No luck finding them yet though.
Can you give me more info about manufacturer or supplier?
Thanks,
Mark

Mike,
Thanks for the info.
On the three kinds of jams I am assuming you substituted MS for white sugar. Did you use a 1:1 ratio or ?
The lack of maple flavor is not an issue for me. I will let the...
Also,
I wondered if cooking the syrup a bit to thicken would either make the jam set or at least help it. If so, how high to cook it?
Thanks,
Mark
Has anyone done this? The recipes I find online often use sugar as well as maple syrup. I am interested in using syrup as the only sweetener/preserver. Although I do not hot water bath my jams made w...
Years ago I had an incredible maple syrup pie at Owl Hoot Farm in Stanbridge East. I had never heard of such a thing and was skeptical but it was love at first bite. Unfortunately it was a secret...
Ran across this interesting clip about how things go up north....
GS,
You are absolutely right.
It just seems to me that there should be enough of a "contrarian" market of old farts like me here in the states to make it worth someone's while to still make those...
No luck there. The closest thing I can find is a Boston Round, which Vermont Artisan Printing also has. Would be nice to have the finger ring on a bottle that size though.
Thanks,
Mark
Just a followup on what I did. I bought from Tejas Smokers. Good to deal with, pricier than some places. I like to think I got good value, hard to tell.
I went w the low pressure burners...
Thanks. I know it's ABOUT the same but it's not THE SAME. I am being stubborn. I really want to sell syrup in containers that have no reference or relationship to the metric system. I'm just a...
Does anyone have a source for true quart size glass jugs: round, shouldered down to a neck, with w finger ring? I have had no luck finding them.
I am not interested in metric sizes.
Thanks,
Mark
How about if you label your product "Mple Sirup"? Are you still subject to the RSA?
Interesting insights. Do you think this goes for gravity also? Seems turbulence would be less of an issue, but there I go intuiting.

Is there any true, operational difference using a "T" vs. a "Y" connector in a 5/16 junction? Although intuition might make me think so, I wonder. I have "T"'s for drops. If I can use them...
Is this where you are looking?

According to who/what?
Mark
Thanks.
I spoke w Tejas and sent them pix in an email (w my phone #) on 2/13. Have heard nothing yet. I may just say the heck w it & go w Agri Supply. Their Low Pressure burner they rate @ 70k BTU....
Also, is a $20 burner better than a $10 burner?
Thanks,
Mark
I am making/having made a 16x24 finisher, similar to the manufactured ones, w a dual burner setup. The more I look into burners, the less I seem to know. The manufactured ones of that size, as I...
Do you draw off directly into the double bucket unit?
Thanks,
Mark
