A 4'x8' sheet of galvanised is cheap , put it down and nail or screw it to the floor. Its easy to sweep off to.
If you think that is the only spare front pan there is, I'll make your day , its not. Small Bros made ten million just like yours. I believe the most common evaporator made , but with age solder and...
The 2'x6' drop tube I do list at 35gph, although many have told me they get 40gph with less talk and more fireing.

If you are going to solder it, use lap joints for the seams and 'no' flame for the heat. A butt joint would be nearly impossible to solder both sides if needed.

In the drawing that looks like a raised version , early on before I could bend a flue I made a drop 'V' pan , it worked ok, the raised like you show would need to be capped and space at the ends for...

A friend was up north visting Pierre last spring, he had ten buckets sitting on the ground in front of ten maples beside the road, he explained he was testing the IPL stainless spout that you use...
After reading your last post,I'm not really sure what were looking at, the thing that stands out for me would be the depth of the sap and the volume in there, my calculator is not at hand , so...
A easy trick is to put some leg brackets on the back of the arch , if the flue pipe comes out straight, mount the preheater over the pipe so its heated by the pipe. It will make the sap boil in there.
