NW Corner of Mille Lacs - Total 160 g on 84 taps - cooking tomorrow. We will see if it runs again ....
NW corner of Mille Lacs - only 1/2 tapped. 50 tapped with only 2 on buckers - the rest just dripping - not much sap. Will tap another 50 and get the drop lines in the buckets (already dug in) in the...
I'm digging holes and putting my buckets out, but not planning to tap for another 5-6 days. I only tap 100, so I can wait. Based on what are in the bags that are out around here, I haven't missed...
anything running?
Just north of Garrison - we are in a different hemisphere than southern Minnesota - lol. But sometimes it seems like it. I have not set any taps and guessing AT LEAST another 5 days.
Great info - thanks.
NE Corner of Mille Lacs - 96 taps 290g sap; cooked 250g got just short of 5g syrup. That's 2% sap which is normal for early sap for me.
The few silvers I have yielded zero, and it seems some of the...
Putting tubing on this AM - break time. Sap is ON! On the approx 50 we have put tubing on (drop lines to buckets) - about 50 to go.
75 taps in, 25 to go. Nothing running yet. NW corner of Mille Lacs. Most everyone here is tapping away -
That is a BINGO!
Crap! Below zero again this morning (NW corner of Mille Lacs). So far I have opened trails in the bush, and that is all! Hoping that a week from now I will be all tapped ..... if it warms up as...
What is 'cold shock gravity filtering'? - if you don't mind.
Just about done washing up here (a 2-3 week process for me!).
Very good year. I was expecting less than average due to it being so dry and little snow cover.
2nd best year ever. 110 taps
...
NW Corner of Mille Lacs - collected 200 g yesterday (about 110 taps). Some going well, some seem to be done. Up to 800+ gallons and there may be more. Now ahead of my 20 year average.
Eric Holm - I too am trying dish towels. My helpful Wife donated a few and I cut them in quarters. I put 3 - 4 in my filter 'rack' and peal 1 or 2 out as I go. Then repeat. So far, very good. I only...
I purchased used quad tanks (260 g) from a commercial syrup producer. They had been used for transporting bulk syrup and had different weights marked on the side - and crossed off ….. I think syrup...
Great to hear - did you get the 3 membrane r/o?
My sap started out at 1.25 brix so the r/o really helped. Running good here - collected about 4 g per tap so far with another 1-2 gallons per tap...
16 miles South of Aitkin. Nothing this week - could be the end, we'll see the next few days.
Low end of average here - currently at 580 gallons on 99 taps (my ave. is 7 gal per tap).
What are your...
Schnep's, where are you located? My sugar bush is 4 miles north of Garrison on US 169. If not to far away you could come up and see what I have.
We would certainly honor safe distancing, but I...
At about 100 taps, sounds like we are similar size. I do mine alone, the Wife supports and does hands on when we bottle.
My biggest bottleneck was cooking, and although I can get up to 15 gph...
NW Corner of Mille Lacs - 99 taps 580 gallons so far - Nearly reached our 30 year average of 6 -7 gallons per tap. It is still running …. and the next few days look about the same. Hoping for another...
NW Corner of Mille Lacs Lake - 99 taps on drop lines to buckets. Some are still not giving. Collected 130g before the cold spell and 100 more in the past couple days. Our average is about 10g per tap...
My first year with R/O. I bought 'The R/o Bucket'. I know the TDS sensor is to confirm that all the sugar and minerals are being filtered out.
My question is, Can the TDS be used to measure brix?...
NW Corner of Mille Lacs Lake - put in 61 taps the past 2 days, many were going today. Putting drop lines and buckets on these tomorrow and then back to tapping. Cloudy and windy (the trees were...
