I have a leader 2x6 built in 1979 and it's still going strong.
Go with wood if you can. Propane is great for finishing, but will
cost you an arm and a leg to boil with.

Well It's all over down here. I only fired up the evaporator three times this
year. About 900 gallons of sap is all I got.

Red maples will always have some red going on. In the summer the leaf

Hanson has got it right, if you are using a cone filter, let your syrup sit
for a few days or even weeks then filter it. I store my unfiltered syrup

Like Bucket Head said, Don't drive them to hard. Also be more carefull
if you are tapping trees that are frozen, they will split eaiser.
