I use a game cam. Runs on 12 AA batteries. Lasts all season. Connected to cell service. Works great.
I would also wipe off any soot from the bottom of your pan. That will insulate the pan.
Thanks Maple Flats. We do have a recirc line but have not used it. There is a steady stream coming out from the closest trees, so the diaphragm is wet. I'll try the warm water flush. I have a few...
I don't mean to hijack this thread. I'm kind of having the same issue. We have a shurflow pump setup, but it's only pulling 4". Sap is flowing from the closest dozen trees but hardly anything higher....
Are you reheating with direct heat? If so are you consistently stirring the syrup? Direct heat will cause hot spots and create niter. Even at 180 degrees
We are in central NH. Will be tapping in about 2 weeks. Some cold weather moving in the next couple weeks.
You'll be there a lifetime with a fire at 40 degrees!
We have our thermostat set to turn off at 30*. The pumps do freeze but the are housed in black totes, so the sun warms them up. They will thaw in time that the lines will just be starting to thaw as...
We have had problems with filter housings crack in extreme cold weather. We run 4 Shurflo pumps in our woods. Wrap all fittings with Teflon tape and tighten with a wrench. But I would check to make...
Look up Shurflo pump setups. We run 4 in our woods, all on marine batteries and solar chargers.
Have you thought of setting up solar powered sureflow pumps?
Yes. There's a small single barb on them. They push on and don't fall off.
We started to use them last season. Love them. Don't need tubing tool to install them. They are seasonal, so we will use a different color every season. We used Leader for many years. We had an issue...
Has anyone tried a food dehydrator with the fruit roll sheets? I have a dehydrator with adjustable temp.
Hang it with a granite post with wrought iron hanger

My average is about .025 gallons an hour. lol
Long weekend and tired of looking at the well in the front yard. So I made a well house.2013620137
140 gallons on flat filters this year.
Water is free. Oil can get expensive. Plus you don't need extreme heat. No more then 190 degrees. 300 is far to much heat.

So that's how its made! Wonder what size arch they use?
How does it smell? If it stinks like spoiled milk then don't boil it. If it smells fine and tastes OK then boil it.
Would bar keepers friend work? With a scotch brite pad.
