We have a 30*8 Venturi. It's nice to have the blower outside. We are only about 8' from the stack.
Also made the trip. It might not have been as extravagant as previous years but I enjoyed a chance to see different equipment and talk to people about sugaring. We were at D&G when they were shutting...
Happy Easter everyone. Boiled last night. Sap still coming in from our cold sugarbush. Going to pull the plug tomorrow afternoon after one last boil. Below average season for us.
Still hoping for a couple more boils. Elevation really hurt us earlier in the season. Trying to catch up now but the end is near.
I'd use the 1200 tank and save some permeate for when you need it.
For as much money a new evaporator runs SL should be able to overnight you sight glasses. They are not critical to run a evaporator, but boy they are **** handy especially if you have hoods. I wonder...
Looks great!
Every block of woods I drive by MIGHT be our next sugarbush.
We have a Memprotec 350 that is horizontal. We built a shelf for it and run hoses to our tanks. Just a trap door to feed the hoses out. When we're done for the day just pull the hoses back in the...
The shurflo pumps will pull more vacuum if the diaphragm is wet. This is accomplished by running a small line from your collection tank back to the front of the pump. Need have a valve inline to be...
I would oversize it now with 3/4". Not a lot of 1/2" pipe out there so it might be difficult to find saddles and the 3/4" pipe will be comparable in price but allow for more taps.
If you are already on vacuum I would run the 5/16. We have plenty of 3/16 out and it works great but it can also be finicky with chips or bacteria after the first year.
Why take the chance with a food product? I would think you could find used totes that had food products in them. Just my two cents.
Thank you I did not know that. Save some money.
First thought would be to go with a equipment dealer you are comfortable with. Secondly, I wouldn't discount any of the big brands Leader, Smokey Lake, CDL, D&G, H2O and Lapierre. They all make a...

Probably not the answer you want but we found that they aren't really needed as once you are going everything is closed up anyway. For cleaning up maybe a drop light or a led lantern?
It works great! Love being able to see into the plates as they fill up. I can also explain to visitors how the press works visually.
I forgot to mention that we use the 5/16 drop with the 3/16 line. 1. it's easier to find the spouts you want to use. 2. The extra diameter of the line gives enough room for the freeze pull back...
We have used both Leader 3/16 and CDL 3/16. I believe they are both a semi rigid tubing. I wouldn't hesitate on either brand. I will say on the fittings I do like the CDL brand a bit better for the...
We have a Memprotec 350H. Have been very pleased with it. Have called the company during the season about a question and either the owner or his son called me right back with answers.
I think most wood fired rigs are going to be pretty quick unless you go with gasification modes.
We have a Venturi 2.5*8. First year on it. Coming from a 2*6. First impressions are that it boils very even almost like a oil burner when hot. It likes to eat and we are firing every 7-8 minutes...
It does feel like it has been a slow start to the season. Going to be busy this week though.
Dang! Glad to hear everyone is safe!
