Hi all from northern Ontario!!!...really a newbie when it comes to RO’s (and syrup for that matter). I have a question for you all. We bought a used Deere run 75 RO last year. It worked great but we...
What are the ballpark prices of h20’s??...they have no prices on their website. Least the one I looked on.
Thanks for the info Gary. Are his prices a bit lower then what the big companies are??...only our 3rd year doing syrup and looking to add an RO in. But the big companies don’t really give away their...
Does ‘deer run’ have a website to go look at different RO’s and pricing??...I googled it but can’t seem to find anything.
So Dave, i’m setting up a brand new bush this year on 3/16, you recommend using 5/16 drops??...I also want to try these zap bac spouts, but would it make more sense to just use seasonal spouts the...
I run my 3/16 lines into one of those small white 55 litre barrels. I flip it over and plumb it into the 3/4" mainline. The cap on the barrel is 2", but the center of it is designed with 3/4" female...
So the hotter the temp the faster they expand?
I have another question for ya Dr. Tim...last few days we have had mid 20 nights, but our days have been mid 50's to 60...trees seem to run great till it gets really warm, then they more or less slow...
Think 'I'll take' that advice...
Thanks!!...will try that. Kinda new at this whole thing.
Weather near the soo sucks too!!..went from too cold to almost too hot in a hurry. Here is hoping the 2' of snow still in the bush holds the trees off from budding. Forecast I have shows we gotta get...
Our season in northern Ontario has been brutal. Normally too cold, but we did have the odd warmup here and there. Now our weather has decided it's gonna flip flop and go warm on us. Next 5 days are...
Thanks for the quick reply Dr. Tim...much appreciated!!
We tapped in feb 23/24 up here (northern Ontario by Sault Ste. Marie), weather looked great. Then it turned to crap in a hurry. It is just now starting to get to what we need. Should I be worried my...
It tries to, but the weather is barely cooperating. Had a few nice days last week with lots of sunshine, and around 6 degrees. Lately though it barely gets above zero with pretty chilly nights. When...
Pretty sure most are tapped in around here...
Spouts....go on YouTube and search 'zap bac', pretty interesting video on there
Thank you Dave and Tim, that makes sense.
I'm curious how the tree is able to out pull the vac that is being created in a 3/16 system and suck the sap back. In theory the vac in 3/16 never shuts off once it starts unless it freezes. Or do I...
If you are looking at just the cost of running the tubing and drops, I use the following formula, number of taps per line X $0.84 (that is the price of the drop, spout, tee and 3' of tubing) + length...
that is the video yes. the first comment in the comment section is what im talking about.
Was watching a youtube video on 3/16 tubing setup, (the Krueger Norton sugarhouse video). In the comments on the video, someone states, and i quote.." when using more than 13% gravity, 3/16 sap...
Just curious if anyone in this situation (limited elevation drop) has tried digging a hole and placing your collection tank in it. Best case would be to construct a small 'bunker' below ground, but...
