We make traditional wine from our maple syrup. Instead of cane sugar, we use maple syrup as our sugar base. Raspberry, Strawberry, Blueberry, Peach, Currant, and Concord are on the line up for our...
Still have one sugarbush on. I wonder how many others are still boiling.
I get an amazing sap flow on 29 trees with 3/16. Hardly a slope to speak of. I would never have believed it if I didn't see it for myself. No vacuum pump.
Amazing Easter. Jesus has risen and so has the sap flow! Record sap day. Record syrup day. Amazing Grace. Thankful.
Season just kicking in in NNY.
Still no significant sap here. Baby bush woke up today. The rest of them will perhaps thaw tomorrow. We are ready!
Was it warm enough to get your leak checking done? Still working in it here
Good luck! Hope you have a good day! We had an ice storm here two days ago. Lost power, too. Damaged trees and branches all over. Not as bad as '98, but still kind of disheartening when we had all...
Cool! We just finished tapping last week. It ran ovee the weekend here. Thursday looks like it will be running again. Hopefully we can get our system tightened up then.
Have you made any syrup yet?
Those are reasonable prices. Thanks for posting!
Thank you for your reply. I know some of the requirements seem outlandish, but if we are to wear the badge, we must adhere to the rules. I still remain curious as to any other maple producers'...
I will be switching to organic defoamer (safflower oil) but due to use of filter aid, was informed our maple would be organic and not 100% organic. Also, they are looking into my use of sand for sap...
I think all of us are going to see a continuing trend in earlier than traditional tapping times. I guess each of us should tap when we think it's time and hope Mother Nature agrees with us. :)
Only have a portion tapped so far, but enough to make some tasty first run syrup for our family. Earliest I ever made syrup! Will get the rest of them all in in the next week or so.
We broke quite a few, but at this point, after having all of ours installed and tapped in, it's not the breakage I am concerned about. It's the air leaks.
8-10% of clear check valves might have an air leak. I was just informed of this today and we are using almost all clear check valves in our bushes. Something to keep an ear and an eye out for when...
Our taps were set in place starting the first week of February. A lot of maintenance, repairs, updates, and additions have been put in place over the past few months and the hard work paid off last...
Hi everyone who posted here! Glad to hear that tapping is getting done! We finally finished tapping on 2-19. We've had our first run and are prepping to start boiling tomorrow. I hope that everyones'...
95% Tapped as of yesterday afternoon! :)
About 10% tapped. Working at it every day. Going to be tapped in and ready soon!
One of our bushes had a small brushfire right by the tank and Pumphouse. We were lucky there was only small amount of damage to our pumphose and despite large amount of underbrush fire was quickly...
Brandy Brook Maple Farm is thankful for what we produced, but disappointed in what we didn't.
Less than a quart per tap on vacuum.
A little less than 60% of a crop.
We stopped sucking on Easter...
And if the color is medium and it tastes like someone added orange extract? ;P
