We were finally able to tap one sap line yesterday, on snowshoes, most were dripping fairly quickly. There is no frost in the ground up here, so I'm thinking it's going to start and end quickly....
Hey Mercer, I'm North of Hayward. Still haven't tapped. Hopefully later this week. The snow is so darn deep. Don't think I'm missing anything yet
I'm pretty sure that a meat thermometer isn't made to go above 200*.
Hey Guys,
I guess with that many taps, you have to start early! I typically tap around St. Patrick's Day up here, but then again, just 100 taps. Have a great season
I plan to finish tapping my bags today. Got sap line tapped on Tuesday. Some sap, NW facing slope, looking forward to a season without knee deep snow, so far!
My trees have finally kicked into high gear. Used the RB15 bucket yesterday. Definitely a learning curve, but it's amazing. Cooked off 75 and have about 2 gallons ready to finish. Collected my...
Thanks everyone for your help. I spoke with Carl and he is sending a new needle valve. It appears that I am having the same issue as you therealtreehugger. Carl is great to work with, awesome...
I'm almost positive it is. I'll look into it. Thanks
I tried that. It's almost like the needle valve isn't working. It doesn't change anything, no matter how much I turn it.
I'm finally starting my RB15 bucket and cannot get anything to come out of permeate line to reach a 50/50 flow rate. I've checked all connections. Doe anyone have any ideas?
Tiger flex???? Oh man. I really need some of that stuff. I'm sick of wrestling hoses.
I was able to get the ATV down the hill to collect my sap line barrel the other day. Snow is still slimy so I have to go early while it's still cold and crusty. Only was able to collect 20 gallons....
Congratulations! Looks wonderful
Hello Dave, not officially, although I am helping with the Saturday dinner for the Gordon M. event in August.
Well folks, it looks like it's go time. I am having a hard time convincing myself that it really could start this early. But as many, there is very little if no frost in the ground, so things could...
To you as well Jukenjer. I am having a hard time believing that it's actually time to tap, but the forecast looks amazing. I'm in NW WI north of Hayward and it looks like it's go time. Good luck and...
I wish there was a LIKE button for this Phil-t
I keep mine in a small plastic bucket of hot water, rinse it off immediately after using and set in water
Just a ? Do you have pan gasket between the pan and arch?
What great memories for you and your family.
Dang, that's a bummer Howard. I did order the black diaphragm and replaced it. That long handle looks like a very good idea. Looking forward to tapping in a few weeks.
Just an FYI Person25, I'm under the impression that the concentrate spoils much more rapidly that un RO'ed sap
Very interesting!
