yep its normal. Leader has a new design check valve coming out next season. It will be clear & the check ball will be closer towards the end opening. This should prevent the stuby from popping out...

Cook it to 32 degree above boiling water temp. Use Light or Med syrup. If it smells burnt continue cooking it to about 255 degrees and make Grand, sugar out of it. Nothing goes to waste.

still got my taps trying the check valve taps. So far at 12250 gals sap 845 taps 14.5 gal per tap. I have been making C grade but it all pays money. These CV taps have saved my this yr they do work....
I got 845 CV taps with 22" vac and I've been getting 1100 gals a day. The buckets have stopped for a week And guys without CV taps have been getting far less sap so far.

use vacume pump oil. Tractor supply has it $10 gal. Its made just for all vac pumps piston and vain type. Doesn't foam or sluge up and made for cold weather starts, extended run hrs. 30 wt will burn...

run the blower on 1/4 to 1/2 speed. If sparks are coming out the doors slow it down some.

Just remember these are salesmen and they all make claims that their product is better than the other guys. Will tell you anything to get you hooked in.
