How about making it a family event. Even little ones can carry wrist size pieces for a bit. I cut and buck, my wife runs the splitter. We both stack. Goes quick.
To the OP, I too am interested in this idea. I'm running a Mason 2x3 and had considered AOF using black iron pipe on the outside of the evaporator and drilling through the sides for the nozzles to...
Got the pan sweetened and was able to do a small draw. First time ever making Golden grade. Still prefer dark or amber but I'll take it.22971
Hello all. Ice fishing has been nonexistent this winter. Just returned from a trip to the Adirondacks. Just tapped 10 trees for 18 taps yesterday, and collected 21 gallons of 2.5% sap. I may be doing...
I did not mention that also would have to bypass the freezers thermostat and use a bulb type t-stat like for a commercial walk-in freezer. Not difficult to do.
Many bait shops have done this for minnow thanks kept at about 58* F. Have to use a bilge pump or something like it to keep it circulating for maximum cooling.
Hydraulic lifter, like on car hatchback, or truck bed caps rear window. Rope and pully inside to close.
Chiming in on this. I had 2 taps in 1 tree that I did experiment with. 1 tap had a 38 inch drop to a bucket and the other had the tubing circling the tree with 8 foot of tubing and longer tubing did...
Since I pulled my taps the holes have been dry since 3/17. Not a drop on the tree trunk.
A friend of mine used heavy duty vinyl, like air curtain door, and made it wider than his pan so all drips go in the floor trough around his evaporator.
Yep, filter too, top and bottom side. Once I got my filter to fit tightly around my canner to trap in heat, it is faster than the vacuum filter I built.

we had a bunch of 18inch floor dust mop frames at work that we were going to toss out. Bent 4 of them to 90 degrees, and tack welded them together, a loop welded to the center of them, a trap swivel...
Just a backyarder, but this year is the first I've ever had Amber. It has always been Dark and I'm not doing anything different.
Dang, think I'm done. Buds are dripping sap and beginning to pop open. Got a late start and looks like an early finish. Next year.
Dang, the sugars around here are dripping sap from the buds...think I'm done. I got a late start and a early stop. Next year.
I can relate. Very first time, 8 taps, 1 1/2 gallons made. Following year, 18 taps, 3 3/4 gallons made. then 22 taps and 4 gallons syrup and 4 pounds of sugar, 38 taps 6 gal. syrup. 80 taps 6 gal. of...
Well now you can call yourself a sugar maker as we have all done it...at least once.
Yep. Have had 1 for a few years now and they really care. Great company.
After a year off, tapped last sat. 3/5/2022. 25 taps in sugar maples, collected 75.5 gallons of sap and bottled 1.75 gallons of finished syrup. Graded as Amber. First time not making dark syrup. I'm...
I have been pleased so far. Wasn't going to tap this year again but got conned into it. Tapped Saturday morning (3/6/22) and have collected 4 times from 25 taps for 75 gallons of 2.5 brix. Today was...
Did you inadvertently flip the filters? Mark each one as top side and always run same side up.
I picked up a "new to me" 16 foot Grumman fishing boat that needed a little TLC. After replacing the transom, I gave her a proper name.

silly question but is your blower rotating the correct direction? Some are polarity sensitive to rotation.
I used 1/2 wide wood stove window gasket to make a seal on the ash door. No sparks or ash get out, even with the AUF Blower on full speed.
