Okay, but how does your website account for packing material as far as weight goes? Unless it's all flat rated? If you add say, newspaper or packing peanuts that would increase the weight i.e....
Yes that’s what I’m seeing. Trying to ship a pint to the mid-west. Pint = $10 shipping $9.47. **** near $20. Maybe I can put it in a small box and ship in the cheaper plastic envelopes. Saves $2...
...
I posted syrup for sale on my social media account and got some people out of state that want to buy. The issue is shipping.
The only thing that seems to make sense to me it USPS flat rate...
Pulled most of my taps last night after the flow slowed down. Was a good flowing day, but doesn't look like we're going to get another freezing night. Still have about 20 or so to pull tonight from...
Thanks for the replies guys.
I think I'll be checking out either syruplabels.com or vistaprint.
Hi folks,
Who do y’all use to make your labels? I’m looking to fancy up some of what I have bottled in glass and am considering labels for next year. Need a label place that can make a design...
Sap flowing yesterday.
Took the preheater off my pan. Started dumping buckets of sap in by the 5 gallons full. Going to finish this last boil by this weekend in one big batch. The arch will now...
Think we're pretty much done.
I'm going to milk it until the end of this week, then do a big batch boil this weekend. 30 taps on 3/16, was getting 50+ gallons a day. Yesterday with freezing night...
Yeah that’s pretty light. I feel if some of us up here could boil faster it would be even lighter. It seems though the syrup has gone from really light, to not flowing at all. Maybe my taps are...

I’ll have to post a picture when I get home.
Yeah I’m finishing over propane with a hydrometer. Filtering. Then reheating to bottling temp with a thermometer and it’s all been really light. 80% of what I’ve bottled has been golden delicate and...
Anyone in the New England area making really light syrup lately? My syrup went from golden delicate for about a week (tapped 2/24’ish), to robust for about a week. Now back to golden, for the past...
Sap started running yesterday. Made lots of really light syrup last night.
Might have enough wood to get through the season. Seems I have more standing dead trees than I thought. The Cherry and...
Looks like we’ll be getting “The Thaw” on Tuesday. Everything if froze up currently. Even the collected sap in the buckets are chunks of ice.
Looking at the extended weather patterns... we could...
I’m using the standard 12oz glass from Bascom. Kind of flat with the hoop. I have some folks in line to purchase some but I don’t want them to feel cheated.
I’m washing my filter with hot water...
Not sure if any of this has been mentioned yet.
Second year boiling on a block arch. Have a 16"x40" divided flat pan. Thanks to some of the folks here I have seen good results but there's still...
This is a two part question...
I’ve been bottling in 12oz glass. When I reheat the syrup to bottle I fill it to the threads. Then once it cools the syrup shrinks down almost an entire inch leaving...
Thank you. I’ve been trying to figure this out forever.
Maybe next project for summer. Still working the kinks out. I.E. how to install a door from something like a barrel kit into brick. How to construct an ash pan/grate. Thinking making the firebox...
Yeah my botch is about 1”-1 1/2”. They’re triangular so I’d have to trig it out. They’re small I’ll just put it that way.
My only gripe is the gradient dissolving. I've learned with smaller continuous flow pans; if the boil slows down or you suddenly lose a lot of heat, kiss your gradient goodbye. Yesterday with the...
They run the entire 40" with a notched hole at the bottom.
I had a 16”x40” pan made with two divers. My channels are just over 5” wide(x3). I would say it works as a continuous flow should. Also boiling on blocks.
