Good Luck WVSugarShak. Seems like the whole month of January so far would have been good tapping weather. I am waiting until after this next freeze-up.

That is 90 gph of permeate through each membrane. This is a rough average, exact value varies with sugar %, temperature, etc
wmick:
For several years, I averaged 90 gph with MES 4x40 membranes at 275 psi
Do you have 240 V across the heating element? You could have 120 V from each wire to ground, but no current through the element if both leads are the same phase.
I agree that the amount of tubing stinking out past the clamp is critical. However, I have also found that different runs of tubing can have slightly smaller inner diameters and be very tight. In...
Well, another season is wrapping up. I have enjoyed reading all of the post on the West Virginia site by canaanmaple, lilshot and 220 mapler, and following their season this year. I always plan to...
I did not tap until this weekend, but good runs this week
I also tapped half my trees on Saturday. Still getting some lines ready on the other half. Good runs all this past week
Good luck

Good luck. I am still waiting a few week. Really not ready yet

Good luck. I am curious to hear how your season goes

One thing that I find useful in leak checking 3/16 tubing is a pair, or two, of needle-nose vise grips with 5/16 in tubing covering the teeth. With these you can pinch off certain drops or sections...
I have used zip ties to connect 3/16 tubing lines that are crossing a field using a wire guide. Some brands fall apart after a couple years in the sun.

I do not know the advertised rate, but I got 10-12 gph.

I have had a NGMP 2x6 for three years. Started with one flat divided pan ( to save money), but changed to drop flue set the last 2 years. I am very happy with it, and get 25-35 gph. Owner was very...
WX10 will do about 13 gpm through 1 in pipe and 19 gpm through 1-1/4 pipe. 700 ft of the 1 in will hold 29 gals and for the 1-1/4 in 45 gal. (These calculations do not include any fittings.)
I...
On most of my runs, I go the whole way to the tank. If you have good slope, that is the way to go.
Netsplitter:
In general, it is not a good idea to tee two (or more) 3/16" lines together. You may decrease natural vacuum on one or both lines because of the flow restrictions. The 3/16 does not...
For fixing the bottom end to the tank, you can use hollow core rope. Then feed about 12 to 18 inches of the 3/16 tubing through the center of the rope, like a finger trap. You can then tighten this...
It was not that long ago. 3 tanks of propane, 2.5 gallons of syrup. But, I boiled quie a bit to finish on the kitchen electric stove

Speaking of Maple addiction, you need to see the trailer for the new muppet movie, "Happytime Murders". The trailer was released a as spoof Public Service Announcement (PSA). Interesting publicity...
I do not think any of the Honda pumps will do 250-300 ft of static head. You will need some type of multi-stage pump. I have pump curves from some of the Honda Pumps and some of the Gould Pumps, if...
I use a Gould’s 18GBS15 pump (that is 18 gpm (at no restriction) stainless, 1.5 Hp) hooked to a generator to pump through 1200 ft of 1 in pipe with an elevation rise of about 100 ft. I get about 10...
Mark:
I did do both days. Lousy weather both days. Rainy in February and snowed in March, but people still came out.

Frostmore:
Sounds like a decent season. I stopped last weekend. Flows were way reduced and too many other jobs to keep up with the warmer weather.
I had about 700 taps this year, and true to...
