I have D & G pans and haven't had any issues. They seem to be made well. Mine are a few years old now though. Who knows if the new ones are the same?

I use a little bleach or food grade hydrogen peroxide to clean our tanks. One thing I would recommend is to make yourself up a pvc pipe extension to go on a wet/dry shop vac to suck out any remaining...
Thanks, I'll give that a try. We have been flushing with clear water, then doing the peroxide, then clear water again, while going tap to tap pulling 3 or 4 at a time. It's pretty grueling the way we...
I was using compressed air for a couple years and then got away from it. I still have the manifold some place. I guess I'll have to go back to using it again if it makes a difference. I guess I just...
I was wondering what rate of dilution you folks that use hydrogen peroxide to wash your tubing are using. I am using the equivalence of 1000ppm of 5% as recommended in the Maple Syrup Producers...
We tapped yesterday and today in the Southern Tier. Same deal, yesterday they were running as we were tapping, but today we were back to winter. Felt good to have a hint of Spring in the air anyways.
Sounds like a good recipe Specklefield. Do you happen to know how many jars it makes?
I just set my board in place and mortared the edges of the bricks. No mortar on the flat side of the brick between the brick and board. That's the way the man at D & G suggested I do it. Works real...
I used a heavy duty drill with stainless beaters that I made. It worked fine. I bought a cheapy bench top drill press from tractor supply but could not slow it down enough. Even with the belt right...
Alright then, I guess I was worrying for nothing. I just didn't want any suprises. As I know you are all well aware, there's too much work getting to that point to mess up because of improper...
I have been using the epoxy lined metal 5 gal cans to package bulk syrup and they have a metal insert under the cap that acts as a seal. I just bought a bunch of plastic jugs that are supposed to be...

I read on line that hydrogen peroxide works well for removing sulphur from well water by adding oxygen. We use peroxide to wash our tubing anyways,so I wonder what the minimum ppm would need to be to...
We don't have vacuum so we're limited to 325 gals a trip. That's pretty marginal for the tubing distances we have. We also use the place as deer camp, and would like to live there someday after I...
I'm thinking of having a well drilled so I don't have to haul water to wash my tubing. My only concern is that all of my neighbors have a terrible sulphur problem with their wells. I assume mine...
I got a flyer from them the other day. Just says spring discount on new and used equipment. Educational seminar: Reverse osmosis a business solution.(all you need to know about r/o) Seminar at 10:00...
We double up a couple pre filters and filter right off the evaporator. Sure makes things easier for us. We have alot of sand so we rinse the filters out with our preheater water after several draw...
Wow, very interesting stuff. Lots of helpful perspectives. Thanks guys
I'm using Atmos also. Bought a new quart at the start of the season. Took out a small bottle and froze the rest. I would think that the prefered method would be to put a couple drops in the flue pan...
I had sent for literature from The Institute For Maple Education called "Boiling 101" tips and tricks to make better syrup. In the book there is a section on the proper use of defoamer. They say on a...
Good, I guess I've been on the right track. Thanks fellas
How do you structure pricing if a person buys, say a gallon or two, but wants it in pints or quarts. Do you charge them the gallon price plus the cost of the extra jugs? Or charge them the individual...
I suppose I'll end up throwing them out. That's right, no sense in messing up a good product. I wasn't sure if bleach would kill it or not. My big concern then was the bleach smell. I was wondering...
No, they weren't in a case. He had all the different sizes in those huge plastic bags. I never gave the mold thing a thought. We did notice some stuff in that area had water dropplets on it. I think I...
