Good freeze last night for one last sap run for me. Passing my trees and most of my stuff off to a local maple friend and calling it a career.
Trees were reset. My 3/16 bush had the best day so far this year. Every else was status quo. Love those zap bac spouts to be getting big runs after two months tapped. Looks to go for another week...
Still making syrup. Upper bushes froze the last couple of nights, but lower did not. Hard freeze this weekend might reset everything.
All good things come to an end . You guys had a great run. Good luck, van
Big sap last week. Looking forward to more starting tomorrow.
The last week was great here. Full sap tanks lead to full barrels. Starting to get into a rhythm.
It’s good to have tubing running from the tank to the mainline above the pump. Then a constant stream of sap will keep the pump happy and pulling better vacuum.
Big sap the last couple of days. Today was a double boiler. Up early to collect, boil, collect again, and boil again. Still not completely tapped yet either.
Out at 4 am yesterday to get sap.road was flooded ,branches down , but plowed through to get the job done. Tanks were full! Equaled last years best day and not fully tapped yet. Started filling...
Finished tapping two more bushes. Ro tank is full for an early start tomorrow and sap is pouring in.
First syrup of 22 made last night. Everything worked flawlessly, including me! Back to tapping.
First sap in today, third sugarbush mostly tapped.
Two sugarbushes tapped ,tight , and flowing. Went to the er last night for stitches, but not before I just put on a bandaid and finished tapping for the day. Trees were fighting back.
Started tapping today. Looking forward to a good season.
I have a spare Alamo vacuum pump with gas engine and reclaimer I can part with.
I converted my 2.5x10 to oil . Carlin 601 crd with 6gph 80 degree nozzle. Run the oil pressure at around 110. Boil roughly 100 gph.
Yes you can. There are threads on this site from awhile ago that detail how I did it before I got a press.
Still hanging on here made 60 gals 35 lt yesterday and pulled in over 2,000 gals today. Froze last night. Sap is still flowing well and should keep going a couple more days. Without the zap bac...
I did a couple of days ago. Started new that is. I also cleaned everything but my tubing, Tanks, pumps, and evaporator. Went from very very dark,lt 2, to middle of the road dark,lt 30.
Hi all. Doing fine. Busy with sap, wind, and water. Not much new this year.
I took the stone filters out of my reclaimers and plumbed in a oil filter for an oil burner.put in a shut off valve between the reclaimer and filter housing or oil will flow into the pump when off....
Good to see you’re still sugaring.
No worries mate! Less internet and more family, farm, and fishing. Mostly tapped and waiting for warm up like everyone.
The coffee is close, but different. The h e s heats the liquid to a certain temperature which is determined by the thermocouple. It is hot enough to soften the tubing but not burn you if you were to...
Thanks to everyone who has replied to this. Keeps it in the forefront so more people can see the problem. For the devils advocate...let’s say I went into my locally owned diner and found rat poop in...
