I also think the holes are from sap suckers, I have never seen that on ironwood I think it's some kind of apple
we have about 350 taps on 3/16 there was about 150 gal in the tanks from yesterdays run. the trees didn't thaw until after 2:00 so it was a short day.
I went over today and split one line one but I don't think I am getting anymore sap then I was getting with one. but all the lines are now running very well maybe they just needed some time to get...
in looking at the lines and drops I cant see any sap in many of the uppermost ones.
I think we will try running tubing up and splitting some lines.We fixed some leaks and as the day went on its running very well but most all the sap is coming from the lower taps with no production...

Have you tried putting a piece of duct tape hanging down on the bottom corners of your bags? I did that when we used bags.Someone told me they would chew on it and not like it and leave the bags...
Can you go up and over the road? check out the utube video by kreugar/Norton. He mentions doing that
We put in a little over 300 taps over the weekend, just a few drips. Now with the weather cooling I'm sure we won't see any run until late in the week at least.
