I am looking for someone to boil my sap in exchange for some syrup. I'm in waddington and can deliver. I have about 50 taps.
I did 30 gallons today. First of the year. . Nobody ever knows when the season will end. I usually stop when the bugs come out. I've always been done by April 10th. Next week looks great. But...
Yeah my filters are getting plugged now too. It's some nasty stuff. The forecast looks good this week but I'm scared of buddy syrup and don't want to lose the sweet. Going to pull taps this weekend....
If you're having trouble filtering let it cool sit overnight and finish next day or whenever it will all settle to the bottom pour it back in the finishing pan finish then filter much much easier.
I've gotten the lightest syrup ever consistently on my rig. Not sure why. I've burned up almost all my wood. Still say it's been a success so far.
I've got a 2x4 leader pan and it consistently get 23 gph. Need wood about two inches thick and feed it every 7 minutes. If I use bigger wood and fire at 10 minutes I get 15 gph. All about the...
Sap ran slow all weekend. Ended up with 50 gallons of sap. Tested everything as that thread on leaking pan had me wondering. All worked well. Got 3/4 of gallon a golden syrup. Sap ran hard last night...
I sell 🔥 wood to fund my hobbies. If theirs softer hardwoods or any tree that doesn't sell well as heating fuel it becomes sugarwood. If it's seasoned it will all boil sap. I don't burn anything...
Just like the pan in the stove that you boil your fruit loops in.
n old timer once told me you get about one gph for ever y one square foot of surface area.
I have a 2x4 and pretty much take it all the way on it. I have a thermometer in the syrup near draw off. When it gets close I check it with a hydrometer. If it's not done I dump it back in. If it is...
Buy the insulation board and cut it perfect it's not really expensive. I have insulation board and half bricks. I can touch the walls at wide open with gaps. Mine is on year four without mortar.
My 2x4 did not come with feed tube I had to make one. What is yours made of? If you're draw offs are on opposite ends you don't use the feed tube.
It depends on the depth you are running. Takes me about 100 gallons. When I cook the sweet I get 2-3 gallons
I have a 2x4 supreme pan. First year I ran it two inches deep had never ran or seen evaporator run so played it safe. 2nd year I went to 1"you a veteran stopped to visit said I was still too deep....
I have kept it in refrigerator for a week raw. The longer u wait the darker it will be.
I did that this year with the mainline. Then wire broke 8 times back to back. Talk about living and learning.
I would dump it personally. Hard to tell if it definitely is just rainwater. Hate to sweeten the pan with bad stuff then boil the seasons best sap on top of it.
So I took everyone's advice. Spent the money on a new bit put it in the DeWalt wrapped gorilla tape around it and went to town. Got them all drilled without screwing up to bad. It was hard to get the...
Try hebel welding in rensallear falls. It's run by tweetie bird now. Not sure how fast but money always talks. I've had several jobs done there and was satisfied. Hoping you make the best of a...
I'm fairly confident I can just drill it. Everyone has told me I'll slip and elongate it and screw the pipe all up. Everyone just has me nervous I've put so much time in and all that's left is the...
Got fifty on tubing many failures bought many new tool. No money left . 50 taps need connecting to mainline 20 holes and no tool. Please give me ideas by morning I hate to screw up this late in the...
The bank just foreclosed on the house. Momma's moving the bed set into the sugar house while your on the way back from Leader with a new bigger badder evaporator. I'll get the house back someday,...
I don't know about waiting on the mail. Whenever I go to buy sugaring supplies their on the shelf.
Congratulations on the half pint. You'll have alot of fun with it. 60 taps will more than supply...
If the forecast holds true I'm tapping this weekend. Monday Tuesday we should see a decent run. Got two test taps out and the roadside trickled today, sugarbush still frozen. I'd rather be tapped and...
