Wondering if anyone on the site has experience with one of these RO systems?

I agree, this is my first year using 3/16 and have a very steep hill ranging from 30'-60' high and can not believe the way the sap pours out of the 3/16 even on a day in the low 30's. If the sap in...
I am predicting it is going to be a long season. Spring seems to be starting sooner and lasting longer each year. But mother nature will dictate as always
Yes, the temperature of the sap will affect your reading. A quick google search of "sap hydrometer compensation chart" will help you out.
Just checked mine with the sap hydrometer today and it come in at 1.6%, was hoping for better.
I want one...:cry::cry::cry:
Please post some pics when you get'er rollin.
The way we have done it in the past is to finish a small batch of syrup in the house, maybe a gallon or two. When the sap is around 214-215 degrees we throw in a couple cinnamon sticks. If the...
Pulled all my taps yesterday and collected 130 gallons. Hoping for a good yield out of this last push.
Boiling the last 100 gallons today
I'm in Clare, about an hour north of Lansing, and the Sugar Maples buds are still tight. Looks like mother nature is allowing for one more week.
I am curious what the price difference is also?
I was looking to go with the 2x4 XL but would be interested in the two pan set-up. Also, can you explain the difference in the preheater your...
The 2x5,is that a new model he is planning on offering this next season or something the two of you designed custom? I am not seeing it on his web site.
If this question is aimed at me I can't answer this, I plan on ordering one this next year. I have been advised to get the blower and to expect around 12-15 gallons an hour.
Clare area
Where abouts are you located in Mid-Michigan?
So, with the season done, or at least real close, how did every one do? Whats your plans for next year?
For our small operation we struggled this season. Between frozen buckets, the high...
From what I understand this all stems from photos taken of the selling of maple syrup at the farmers market? Why not stop selling at the farmers market and call it personal use? Do you make that much...
What is the reason you do not want to go to the RO system? I would love to have the problems you have ;)
No trees on the neighbors or close enough by to tap, would hate to put that much into a new hobby and then abandon it.
How is the sugar content holding for you guys?
I usually check several trees when collecting buckets but this last time I didn't and ended up getting some very weak sap. I boiled 75 gallons for...
There's no hope for you now! You have been bitten and are infected for life. Now, every maple tree you see you will be sizing it up and determining how many taps you can put in it.
Aahhh, the sap Gremlins are in Wisconsin also!!!
I have only found one solution to this phenomenon, tap more more trees and buy/build more efficient equipment and feed the monster your creating....
I've always boiled outside, but with the snow storm bearing down on us this last Tuesday I had to do something if I was going to get my sap boiled. I moved my homemade rig just inside the garage and...
Out of a stock pot? I would have to say it is near unbelievable due to the restricted surface area. I use a 18"x30" flat pan and am doing good @8gph with 4-6 gph the norm. A mason 2x4 XL is rated at...
