Had an issue similar to this that was very unpredictable but with the same releaser. Check the teeder-todder mechanism that sets on top of the two canisters and make sure it is not riding up or...
Well I'm still going at it while some others in the area are all done. One woods is still running very decent on 24" of vacuum and the sap is still nice and running over a gallon per tap per day...
Still boiling here in NE Pa. Gary. Still running semi decent on vacuum over 20", but anything less and gravity is way slow. Sugar is dropping fast also. Ill be boiling from the "second wave" today...
Okay guys looking for alittle insight on what might work better in a woods for me. I have previously used sap ladders to lift about 4ft, but this lift will be about 10-12ft in order to get sap...
Hey all. Havent been on or posted in a long long time. New for me this year- 125 gph Ro from deer run maple. Oh and lets not forget my yearly upgrades-more and more taps :)
I have seen/ worked with the plastic bag barrel liners and they are very easy to use but only made for open top barrels. I even have some that go in 5gal buckets and they work awesome, just like...
Randy and Jamie Loch are in Susquehanna county in Springville Pa. Theyre about 10 minutes south of me. They are dealers.
I use CDL semi ridged for everything. Easy to work with and stay up pretty good. I want to try some of the new CDL 90 that they say is like between ridged and semi-ridged in toughness.
I know of a guy in Pa a ways from me that runs 2 2x6s side by side with an ro, and i believe one or maybe both have steamaways and he has if i remember right a couple thousand taps.
Heus, I can definatly agree with you with paticks welds. The quality and craftsmanship of his evaporators is very nice, and I can say that Im happy to own one.
How long of a wait is it usually from ordering until you can pick up?
Hey all, havent posted in a while but been lurking around... Lastwoodsman, you said the 125gph is $2195 right now? Is that for gas or electric power? If you dont mind me asking, which are you...
It will take over 200 before you draw off syrup usually on a 2x6. It did this year on mine and about 200-220 I was making syrup, made a few gals, every time I have boiled since then.
We are VERY close then. A few miles. How many taps do you have?
I see you are in montrose pa? I am in dimock, not far from you. Where in the montrose area are you?
Don, you wont make syrup with 75 gals unless your sap is fairly sweet. It will take over a hundred if I recall. But, yes just run it through, do not drain pan to finish in house when done, this way...
Got a little bit today. Collected about 45gal off of about 237 taps. Still flowing good so I think if it stays clouded over it may not freeze. Getting stuff set up for my 150 on vac :)
Others could be DE..?
I got home early and was out checking a few other tanks and they seemed to be running good for only 20-25 taps bushes with a stream coming into the tank, so I went down the road and started tapping...
The ice acts as natures Ro... I have some sap that was about 20 gals, and it froze hard for a few days and I collected the non slushiness and tested it. I had between 5-6%. A few days ago, I did it...
Dont worry, your not alone, I have 103 out and have not been close to finishing tapping but I will this weekend I think, and off the 103 I have gotten about 8gals of sap yesterday. Not a big deal,...
I wont need snoeshoes tapping this weekend or next, but i think you guys up north are going to get hammered unlike NE Pa. Time will tell...
doocat, how big of an operation do you have? We arent far apart at all really. Only 30mins or so
doocat, where in susquehanna county are you? I am by Montrose, and plan to tap this weekend too or atleast start.
