Its been slow, took nearly a week and 1/2 to get 40 gallons out of 40 trees. Hoping it starts to run better the rest of this week. The weather looks good for it.
Going to put in test taps on Saturday... outlook for the next week or so, is still below freezing for the highs. Could be a fast season at the end of March.
Hello, I have one tree, in my backyard that is always the first to run... its dripping like crazy today. My other silvers are in the back 20 and they are always behind my early tree. Looking at the...
My trees (silvers) have not given me anything in the last 4 days. This season may be done, since the weather is looking to get warm and stay warm.
Season remains poor for me. 99% of my stuff is not running at all.
Well, I had a good sap run (for two days), made 1 1/2 gallons of syrup... I usually wait and most of my batches in a normal season are 3-5 gallons of syrup. Went out today to see if I have anything...
In the Princeton MN area. 40 taps in since Sunday a total of 6 gallons of sap, need 10X that just to start the fires. Is is possible that we really will not see a season?
Totally agree, Starting the 13th it looks to be perfect.
I would agree, next week is going to get cold, the third week in March looks perfect.
Test tap went in yesterday, it was dry, checked again today, still dry.
I have not placed taps in yet. Still too cold, looking at the forecast, we may see some better weather the first week in march but still only highs in the 30s. I will be placing out test taps next...
In the Princeton area, some of my silver maples have buddy sap, others not too bad. Production is not happening, may be my lowest season ever for syrup produced.
My trees are not producing much in the last 2 days.... the trees are looking ready to bud soon. I am thinking this season may be done in the Princeton area.
Sap slowed on Sunday in Princeton MN. Must not have gotten cold enough over night.
40 taps in on Sunday, about half were wet or running. All Silvers in the Princeton area.
I'm located in East Central Minnesota Princeton area 37 TAPS in today only three of them were not ripping the rest ran well.
My first two batches look good, my 3rd batch formed sugar sand one day after bottling. So that batch will not get sold, I may have been too hot on that batch for the bottling. What temp do you guys...
I have been collecting Sap with my ARGO ATV since it floats. Had to pull some taps and move them to high grounded trees.
Put in 15 taps on Friday 15th only 4 were running. Put in the other 19 on Saturday. Right now I am at 30 gallons of sap (all silvers) will store up about 40-50 gallons before cooking. Just got tracks...
Well up to a total of 7.9 gallons of syrup this year, its the most we have every done. Weather was cold last night and only picked up 15 gallons of sap yesterday. We have a cold snap coming this...
Already made 2.5 gallons of Syrup, boiling again today. Since I don't have a modern evap with drawoff I am doing them in batches. Will start my third boil late tonight or tomorrow. Yesterday I...
All of mine are running, getting about 7-12 gallons of sap a day right now. Will be boiling this weekend, have about 55 gallons of sap to cook, will have more by the end of the day.
Well, Test tap one is running, Test tap two is dripping, and Test tap three was gushing! I am tapping later today. I am located 1 hour north of the Metro.
Still a lot of snow on the ground. My early tree has a little drip of sap from branches, so I put in a test tap. Will they run if we still have lots of snow cover and frozen ground?
