1.5" for us. We tap with a .224 tapping bit, using the DSD spouts for 3 years now. Tap hole healing or compartmentalization is evident quicker than when we used a larger bit and also drilled 2" deep.
We have a sunrise and really like it. It is a combo flue pan- both raised and drop. Ours is a 2x8, but they make a 2x6 as well.
Today I made maple cream with our sipple candy machine....by mistake! I intended to make a batch of candy but noticed the syrup was not crystallizing. I ran a few molds, but still no change. Then I...
Can DE sap filtering make lighter syrup?
I wash my collection equipment often and I boil as needed.
My raw sap goes through a bag filter, then a mesh screen in line before the 5 micron ro filter....
Pick up a copy of the north american maple syrup producers manual or check out Cornell university's website on maple confections. You will find the necessary steps to sugarcoat soft candy.
We have the 500 model deer run. Very happy with it. Just wondering, I thought a while back someone here had made up their own instruction manual, possibly with pictures too. Thanks
Dave- looks to me that the one on the left (or bottom) is a very dark, and the other one is dark, but possibly on the edge of being an amber.
I want to do the same thing. Curious myself-just figured I'd post and keep it at the top. Someone has to know.
Ok ,great! I was able to map something out off the diagram and the text content. Now I have to put it together. Thanks again.
Thank you, still looking for a diagram if anyone has one.
I'm sure someone here has a diagram or picture of a RO setup with the permeate and concentrate tanks plumbed in. I just want to have an good idea on how to connect our setup (do it once and do it...
Okay, going to start fabrication work on a 20 lb. propane tank for a reclaimer. I just took the valve out. Need to put my hands on some couplers, filter body, and get the mig out!
Okay, thanks Breezy. If I'm understanding you correctly, just one 1/8" copper line out of the reclaimer to the vacuum inlet. Connect oil reservoir outlet to the reclaimer (would use black iron...
Yes, it is a 75. Clear tag on it. It's getting honed, and the original metal vanes are in good condition too. I thought about a propane tank or an air tank for a reclaimer. What height should the...
I'm looking for a oil reclaimer to attach a Delaval 75. Anyone know of any used reclaimers for sale? Thanks.
New to us this year is a 2x8 JDL Extreme with pre-heater and hood. It is the raised/drop flue combo, air tight arch, blower. The best I can get out of it so far is 78 gph with good dry wood and...
In the back of our minds, we all worry about fire. Hopefully they can get up and running again.
Try "Brasso". My dad uses it on our rig. We first clean with warm water/vinegar and then he goes to town with the brasso. This is just for exterior shining. Our pans and hood are bright annealed...
Thanks, I will check them out.
Congratulations! We made the paper last season and it truly yielded more customers to our sugarhouse.
I throw out the ice, unless forecasting for warmer weather I keep it for cooling purposes.
We use some of the smaller aluminum buckets with flat lids and I noticed that some of them had grommet repairs (another hole next to the original) where the hook connects. Having a few that are...
Granite will crack and possibly explode. Fire brick will take the heat safely.
Thanks Breezy, its going to be a summer project. Too much on my plate right now.
