we have ours mounted horizontally on the wall due to lack of floor space. No issues. Just make sure your brackets are strong enough and that they are bolted into good wood.
Probably the auto dripped style but am open to any suggestions ( I guess depending on what your definition of $$$$ might be).
Looking for any imput, good or bad about auto defoamers. I cook on a 2x6 oil fired rig with a raised Max Flue rear pan with hood and preheater and a Revolution style front pan. Typically cook...
Because of my work schedule I often have to RO at night and the process it the next day. With the possible exception of maybe producing a bit darker syrup, I have never had any adverse effects in...
Thanks Dave. That is exactly how I plumbed it up yesterday. In my mind it made perfect sense but I was just concerned about maybe too much water going through the back hood and overflowing. It is...
thanks guys
I just added a hood for my front pan to my 2x6. I already have a hood on my back pan with a pre-heater. Any issues with plumbing them together so I only have 1 drain?
Maplechaaser;
How do you like your 3 post Dolly? My situation is almost identical to yours: 1040 taps on vacuum made 348 gal of syrup on a 2x6 oil fired rig with hood and preheater. I have the...
Sorry to hear about your experience with MES. I have one of his 3 post Dolly units and when I had some issues during this past run early last week that couldn't be resolved in a couple of emails,...
I fully agree with going with a bigger RO that you can grow into if you can swing it. A hobby RO might be fine for your current situation but if you are seriously looking at 2k taps in the near...
its an Atlantic Fluid. William, you are probably right. Last week I had issues in the woods and a leak at the bottom of my releaser so only got 19" most of the week. Day job kept me from addressing...
Look at MES, Clayton is great to work with and not as pricey as Leader. He is in NH too.
I have an OSM-20 vacuum pump, brand new this season. I have never operated one before. My question is how much oil should I be going through? Not including the initial fill, I have put about 1 1/2-2...
Typically retail stores are looking for 28%-35% margin on grocery items minimum; so my guess is they probably are paying $8-$9 wholesale.
So after years of running gravity lines and buckets, I made the upgrade to a high vac system for this upcoming season. I will now have all my taps running right to my sugarhouse! My question is...
Awesome! Thanks
Anybody have or know where I can get the nutritional fact for granulated maple sugar? I've sold it bulk to a local bakery for a while but now have an opportunity to sell some retail but need to work...
I see on here a lot of folks draw off and put the unfiltered syrup in kegs and then filter and bottle at a later date. Does storing syrup unfiltered for a few weeks effect the taste? Does it change...
Thanks guys, I figured I was running too deep but wasn't sure. I will drop it down. Thanks again.
I have a 2x6 Leader with a fully raised Max Flue pan, hood with preheater. it works slick and as long as I pay attention to de-foaming I have always gotten nice clean hot water off my preheater. I...
I have a 4 yr old Leader 2x6, Inferno arch, max flu pan, revolution front pan, preheater and hood. I use a mixture of soft and hardwood and boil raw sap. I avg about 45 gal per hr. I've had it as...
Does anyone have any feedback or experience with Memprotec brand ROs? Compare to Lapierre or Springtech? Thanks in advance.
Great. I'll give it a try.
Thanks for all of the suggestions.
