32 liters finished

first batch of the year for our small operation, started tapping 8 days ago (about 50 taps, upto 120 yesterday) boiled 4 times and finished tonight.:)

I have no idea how the roots could still be frozen. Never got cold this winter and it snowed before it froze. It's more like if it freezes it gets to cold at night and takes all day for the trees to wake up or it only goes to -2 and the trees don't recharge enough. Friday was the best day so far but today the wind blew to hard from the east. Not supposed to freeze tonight or tomorrow night so will be slim pickings for a few days.

:lol: Shawville is north west of Ottawa about 35 min. just over the river from ontario side.

Hoping for a neighbouring MapleTrader there Ken? Hate to tell you but Shawville is up the Ottawa Valley, more or less across the river from Pembroke, Ontario.

this week look reallys good here in the ottawa valley +14 and - 8 at night for a couple of days if it happens, but then again weather forcasing is the only job you can be totally wrong at 90% of the time and still keep your job :lol: :lol:

Wish our forecast looked like that. I'm only 40 min south of you and our forecast says highs of 9 to 15 with lows of 0 to 4. Still some snow in the bush but I suspect it will be pretty much gone by next weekend.

Which on-line Weather forecasts do you guys find is most accurate? Maybe none?

I see the Environment Canada one showing -4 and -5 as lows for Tues and Wed in this area but Weather Network one only has a -1 for Tues and the rest of lows are above freezing for the whole week. Following week looks good (for now).

I am running about 10% of total for last year so far so hope Environment Canada is right!!
