tapping Nova Scotia

Put in 55 taps March 6 and 160 taps today. Sap is running some. Darrell

Hey Darrell,we have almost all our taps in too,have half dozen more to do tomorrow.We plan to fire up our rig for the first time sunday.hope everything works out ok.Good to see someone from nova scotia posting.

Tapped March 7th.50 taps on tubing&5 buckets.Doesnt seem to be running real good yet.Have boiled about a gallon so far,maybe another on the weekend.Built a new stove guess im gonna go for another 150 + taps for next year so i can use my stove more.Having fun thats the main thing.

Just finished tapping around home have about 325 taps in sap was running sat. we had our first boil,swettened our pans.

Tapped Friday and Sat.Put all my taps in,got some Sat. Been raining and 40 degrees day and night, no sap. Sweeten my pans today. Darrell

Hi Guys,
No taps in yet, was planning to tap this afternoon but the weather doesn't look good for the next few days with the wind from the north. Probably Friday - Saturday now. Tubing is all set up, just needs tapping in. Should have ~ 275 this year if all goes according to plan.
Out to the shop now to:
- Repair the flat tire on the sap trailer
- get the 4 litre water jugs ready for spiles
- finish the new steam hood
- take aforementioned steam hood to shack to size up roof flashing
- plumb new preheater
Will keep busy for an hour or two!
Robert, I'd like to come see your place. Sounds like you've added a few new goodies since we last talked!

Had two great days lots of sap, and looks good for today. the grand-daugther helped all day Sunday,she had a great time. To the sap house now. Darrell

Had a good 2 weeks,lots of sap. Didn't run much today,I think it almost over.Rain tomorrow and warm.Filter press works great,wife real likes it. Darrell

Have been monitoring the site for some time and finially decided to join you folks. thanks to all for some very informative posts.
Anyone getting ready for tapping with the upcomming warmer weather forcast? Hope every one has a great season.

I am in the Moncton area. Looks like we are in for a couple good days but followed by another couple weeks of mother natures PMS :mad:. I probably wont tap for another couple of weeks. (probably March 5 weekend)
