Hmm...now that I think of it two of my most consistent trees are the ones with the Frankenstein setup of tubing, pails and plastic spiles...wondering if that has something to do with it...and interesting about spiles being pushed out, I was looking at some and thinking 'I was sure I had drilled deeper than that!!'

Anyway weather FINALLY looking promising for here, trees 2,3, and 4 are all getting back with the program. 6,7 and 9 all need to get their big barky butts in gear :D

Bit of sap today, nothing to get excited about. Between the dribbles if the week and today maybe 90 gallons to boil down. At leat we are sugaring again. Newly tapped trees are 90% of the sap i bet

I had high hopes for today, but only had a little bit in each bucket. There was a pretty hefty breeze here today, so perhaps that slowed down the flow. Crossing my fingers for a better showing tomorrow.

Run Forest Run...at a guess I'd say you're right, the breeze was a factor esp if it was a NW...I know I got next to zilch when it was +2, yet there was a 20km NW breeze too. Cheer up, it'll warm up soon!

Collected 8l today total so fairly happy, 5 of my 6 now back from staycation. Don't know why #6 (2nd-best superproducer) is taking so long but seeing that #2, my superproducer, is only just starting to kick into gear, being patient. Still too soon for the *firewood talk* :evil:

Mine seem to be flowing pretty well , yesterday morning I collected 8 gallons and most of my taps were flowing pretty well , except for 1 , its being difficult , last year the same tree was producing allot , this year it is not doing really anything .

Same with my superproducer, Al. #2 has been my best producer by a long shot for years, but has definitely been taking longer to get going this year. I attribute it partly to its size, #2 is one of my biggest trees, and of course this whacky weather isn't helping. But it may also just be due for a season off, which it did basically get last year, but I did end up tapping it late in the season.

Sap is running today, but not BIG. I expected more, but when the clouds rolled in and the wind picked up, well it just never got going in a big way. Strange year. So much frozen sap. I had my barrels on the heated garage for 2 days and they were still frozen this moring. Got through 500L and called it quits at 3pm. I thought I would have way more.

Steve, I'm near the King/Caledon townline and was as equally uninspired by today's run as you were. A few trees tried hard, but most were fast asleep again.
