Run forest run , I looked at getting that one when I was in the market for one , looked at so many and compared so many I forgot about that one somehow lol , that is the one I wanted to get because it has a higher BTU rating , I ended up getting this one ,

it works good and even though it has a lower BTU rating , I am still happy with it and for the price I feel it was a good buy.

Temperature and atmospheric pressure both affect sap flow. So does the past few days' weather. All things equal, a day at +5 Celsius that is cloudy (low barometric pressure) will result in more sap flow than the same day if its sunny.Quote:

BrutemanAl you are officially my hero. Your pointers on how to properly start my propane burner did the trick! I would have taken the unit back if it wasn't for you. My first burner is no where near so touchy to start it up, so I had no idea that the new one would need so much coaxing. Thanks again. I'm now boiling off the few gallons of sap I've stored up since Wednesday so it doesn't go to waste while I wait for the next big run.
Well I'll be darned. -4C outside but some of my trees are dripping. Granted, these are the ones on the perimeter of the yard and facing SW. But high of -4?!
Then there are some that's freezing coming out of the taps and forming these 4" cone-shaped popsicles.
Glad for the break these past few days but I'd like to make more syrup...
Noticed my south ones had sap coming out around the tree/tap as the lines were all frozen
My trees started giving up some drops just after 2 this afternoon. The best part was collecting the thawed sap from under the ice in my buckets. Are you ready for this?????

6% sugar content! Yes, I doubled and triple checked. 6%! :o

Gaahh! Bruteman, you be careful if there's bear tracks around...I dunno if they would be coming out of hibernation so soon but if they are they might raid your buckets for an energy drink...maybe take a bear banger or bear spray out into the woods with you...and Forest...6%?! Seriously? But seeing how easily I nearly killed my 3rd batch and just turned it to taffy instead, maybe the lower run means more sugar and thus only like a 36/1 or 38/1 instead of the usual 40/1.
In my area sounds like nothing will be happening til Friday. Not keeping fingers crossed but not pulling spiles yet either.
