Recently purchased a 12v marine diaphragm pump from Amazon for 16 bucks. I hooked it up to my 5/16 tubing and it dumps directly into my 55 gallon barrel. So far it works great.

That's great to hear.
Interesting.. What's the flow rating on the pump?
Do you have a vacuum gauge on the line. It would interesting to know how much vacuum you're getting.
I tried one, I hooked it up with a re circulation line and powered it with an old lap top power supply. Works great, I ordered another one to add to a second line.
Well I tried one today on two of my 3/16 lines wow what a difference and its not even a good day for running can't wait to see what it does on a good day.
Sounds interesting. Would you have a link to the pump to share. How many taps and length of tubing is it handleing?
Got the pump on Amazon it is a Sailflo 12volt RV Marine pump I have it hooked up to one line with 22 tap and another with 21 I am guessing at the length of line but I would say in total about 500 ft.
Is this the pump you have. I assume you attach tubing from your run into the inlet and then out to your tank.
How does this work if there is little to no sap flow because it is cold. Wouldn't burn up with no flow?

Very neat idea just trying to figure how it works. It is not a vacuum pump but a diaphram water pump but i guess it pulls enough vacuum. I wonder how much? Is it quiet?
