Doug here from beautiful Hersey MI. Attachment 8882
Hello from Fowlerville, Mi.
Nice and cold here too. Been shoveling next years sap for months now.
I've got 60 trees ready to go by South Haven but there seems to be no good reason to start tapping until the second week of March at earliest. Last year I made about 8 gallons, and I just built a second wood oven this summer (ugly, but it works!) I'm getting pretty tired of waiting for a good thaw.

Matt from Traverse City. no end in sight to the cold in the 10 day forecast.
I don't care who you are, that's funny canoe 1965.
Attachment 9006 If it ever does get warm enough here for the sap to start running It will look like this!
Troy Smith here in Petoskey Michigan. We live on top of Gray Hill and have more snow than I've seen since 1977'-78'. We love our maple syrup. Started tapping trees here 5 years ago with 30 taps, and cinder blocks with chafing pans. We up to 380 taps and working on doubling our taps every year. Good luck everyone, its gonna be a great year.
Rob in Rockford, MI. Tapped 4 trees late in 2010 and made 6oz. 2011 I had 29 taps and made 6 gallons on hotel pans on block arch. 2012 had 43 taps with a new half pint and made 6 gallons (short darn year). 2013 made 28.625 gallons on 101 taps and a half pint with full pint pan. Looking to do another 100 +/- taps this year and probably the same set up as its getting late to change evaporators. Looking for a 2 x 6 for 2015 hopefully.
4 taps at my house and 29 taps on Belding Road and 69 taps at my mothers off 13 mile. All on sap sacks with homemade PVC holders and wire hangers I created.
Hopefully time to start soon. I need to fill that empty trash bag in my 10' x 20' temporary garage over my arch. Getting thirsty. Busch light and homemade beer here I come.
