Thanks to family and friends I was able to finish tapping yesterday. I don’t ever remember having so much snow during tapping. My new woods has 3400 taps. I was able to get 1000 gallons of 1% sap the other day. Looks like next week will be the start of the sugaring season in my area. Good luck everyone.

First boil last night. Ro'd 1000 gallons of .6% sap. Just enough to sweeten the pan but didn't get a draw off. Going to be a busy week.
we also had 1% sap on last weeks run. man, do i hope that isn't the trend for the season but i'm thinking it might be!
I'm in the foothills of the Berkshires in MA, but I'm seeing really low sugar too. I measure every tree, and some trees are 0.8% below average (0.9% below last year, which was a very good year). Overall I'm looking at 0.2% lower than average, and 0.4% lower than last year. I don't know if this is due to the drought, but it's not good. Hoping it's just a blip, and the sugar picks up.

So glad to see this thread still running. Catching up on reading what everyone is up to around here. Looks like same old crew with a few new guys.
My sap at this point has been mediocre at best. 1200 of 1.7 last week and now it has crepped up to 2.3+. It’s rolling in at 160gph right now. Should pick up with every day this week.
I have woods almost to 26” still some leaks I’m sure. Fam squirrels 🐿️ feasted on my tubing this yr.

Dr. Tim - in a stew with potatoes, carrots. onions, and squirrel pieces. After it has cooked for a while and is almost ready, about 5 minutes before serving empty a can of sliced peaches in heavy syrup into the stew. Serve with warm homemade bread.
I have 9800 taps total this year. I have one more woods with about 2500 to still set up.
