Thads computer did crash. I talked to him a couple days ago.
Ran a bit overnight though I did have to shut off the pump about 10:30 due to an ice jam in the releaser. Despite being in a heated room, the connection between the manifold and chamber froze solid. We were hovering right around freezing. Also, because my system is so tight I have to introduce a leak at the releaser or else the pump cavitates as it is not getting any air. That doesn't help the ice issue. Looks like I need a vac. regulator. Anyway, turned the pump back on this morning and it is running pretty well. Could get a decent run today before the next storm.
generalshark what do you have for a temp this am here in ny just over the bridge its 31
The pump is on and I hope for some sap today. They say it is going to hit 43 but for right now it is 34 and a little rain. It smells like sugaring weather outside. I sure hope this is the start of something good.

hoping the 2nd half of my main line will thaw! the first 1/2 is running but there must be ice blockage somewhere in there cuz I have 0 vacuum at the end... actually 1/2 way through till the end! urrggghhh!!! 28" at the releaser 0" at the very end of the line!
I was having that same issue yesterday in a flat spot but it thawed pretty quick. It is 45 degrees here and everything is thawed and the sap is flowing well. I hope it keeps up the rest of the day.
No sap today for me. It just never got warm enough in the woods and there was a slight breeze. Hope it comes soon.

We had 600-700 gallons come in but will probably dump it since it's going through some new tubing. Still repairing some bear damage and tightening up the system. Here comes 10-20" of snow. Time to scream uncle with this weather. Supposed to be cold all next week.
