I hope you had fun tapping yesterday. We tapped the 2nd thru 4th of Feb. We collected approximately 600 gal sap over the weekend. Its all boiled down now. Man is it sloppy out in the woods.

I am tapping a few trees around our house and will boil it like you said on the turkey fryer. I am also going out to Newmans and doing anyhing I can to assist in boiling some down with him. I helped tap some trees last week and really got the syrup flowing through my veins. I will not let this year get by!
By the way Mackdaddy, I read on another thread you are from Maine? how often do you go back to visit?
Wind has really picked up over the past half hour. more and and more storm warnings but the wind is the real issue. any branches that were weakened by the ice will probably break in this wind storm.
Well I got my 200 taps (184 on line and 16 buckets). I put a bucket hook on a leader spout adapter with a blue lamb 7/16 spill. I will let you know if they will hold a 2 gal. bucket. I thought I would try this to see if they would hold. I might have to put a wire on the hooks.
glad to see some ohioians already making syrup! we have not got tapped yet, probably next week, still trying to help out to many other people get there tubes up! seems like i big rush to get tubed this year. hopefully i'll get to make a little of my own this year!!
