That's a tough call. The sap will run well if it hits 5 or 6 C like they're calling for on the 4th. Since it's supposed to cool off after that we'll likely hold off.

Well I only got 25 in then the sun took off some were so I’m going to leave the rest until it warms up again next weekend or so.
Well I just tested the sugar content of the sap I got to day and is 4.2% witch I think is really good.

The long range forecast (if it's anywhere near being correct) only calls for next Monday and Tuesday to be above zero by a couple of degrees in our neck of the woods. The rest of the next 2 weeks has daily highs below zero Celcius. If that holds we'll probably not tap until the weather looks more cooperative - hopefully during March break when we'll have some help!
Ennismaple how many days does it take to tap, normally?
A buddy was my hammer man last year and he almost kept up to me - we put in about 2100 taps in 2 days. With 2 crews we can get done in a weekend if we go hard.Quote:
