This year I’m go to do a little test around 450-500 taps. I never pulled vacuum I used it to push sap to my sugar house. But I changed somethings around this year and I’ll be using it to pull vacuum. I know the double diaphragm guzzler is 19.8 gpm if I remember correctly and the D70 is 19.5 gpm. I’m going to guess around 800 taps. But I’ll only use 2 1/2 gallons of gas every 24 hours and less diaphragm failure. I ran the pump for days on end last year and never changed diaphragms. And most of the time it was running dry until the releaser tripped and dumped sap in the releaser tank. But ill let you know how it goes in a few months.

Your running it with a releaser? I don't use one with mine and the new one I am putting on 315 taps won't have one either.

No the pump is hooked up to the releaser tank. When the releaser dumps The sap goes into the tank and the D70 pumps it 700ft to the sugar house

Ok, I get it now. You have a seperate vacuum pump. I would think that D70 could handle 1500 taps.

Are these pumps able to do vacuum on mainlines? It looks like yes, but not sure based on a couple of responses. I have a remote woods that I am going to setup with about 3000 taps. If I could use these pumps with out a releaser it would be dual purpose, vacuum and a pump to a tank.

Mine is on a 3/4 inch main line and I can get 26 inches of vacuum. I am putting another one on a 320 tap sugarbush for this season. I don't know if you can get one big enough for 3000 taps. You would have to know the maximum gallons per minute that mainline flows then find a pump that will do 3 times that amount.

It looks like it would be closer to 1500 taps not 3000. If it would do 800 on one, then I could use 2 of them as long as I can pump to a tank with them. What are you using for powering it, gas or electric?

The 6.5 minutes running dry is not my concern. I'm wondering what the CFM might be when the diaphragm is dry. I use a little diaphragm pump to pump water thru my tankless water heater. When it doesn't have a head of pressure feeding it, the air volume moved it quite low, then as the diaphragm gets wet, it works the pump much harder.

Sap Raider, mine is powered by a 3/4 hp electric motor because that's what I had. I am pulling sap uphill about 18 inches and pushing it 8 feet up to my collection tank. The new one I am putting together will have a 1/3hp electric motor. That sugarbush has great elevation drop to the tank.
