presently using a 2x6 wood fired hobby size, it just makes it except when we get a relly big flow.

Welcome to Mapletrader, Mariner.
Where are you at in N.S.?
Darren
Thanks for the welcome, located just outside Baddeck. Sap was running yesterday, and as the day warmed up today it was just starting to run when I left the sugar shack. hope to have a boil in the next couple of days. Dumped a bit of the first flow just to freshen up the lines, looking forward to a great season.
Looks like the temperatures are going to be promising starting saturday cant wait
Got my pipelines all tapped and a few buckets in yesterday . Had a small run working at sap house trying to put in new steam hood.Got the hole in roof ,raining now will finished it this afternoon. My neighbor is tapping to.Need some cold night, Darrell
Everything has come to a standstill here in yarmouth hopefully it will start again when things cool off a bit later in the week
We completed tapping last Wednesday. I'm early for the first time in a long time!
Total now is 275 taps.
Gathered 100 litres of sap from the Saturday/Sunday run. Not quite enough to prime the evaporator but we'll see when more comes. The snow took a beating today and the trees must be finally starting to thaw with the mild weather. Should be some sap toward the end of the week.
Wishing a good season to all!
Darren
Boiled yesterday. Had a good early season run of 625 litres Friday night/all day on Saturday. Made about 10 litres of syrup. Nice day in the camp!
WOW thats pretty good for 275 taps. I got 62 in this year but only got 7 gallons of sap over the weekend. looks like not all my trees are sapping yet. I sure hope my season produces like your trees do. GOOD LUCK
Thanks Sniperdodo!
Once your Moncton snow melts and you can see the trunks of your trees the sap will come. Patience, my friend!
