I am getting ready to head out and tap for the first time ever.
Map the flow be with you. happy sap hunting
David good luck with the the tapping.
Last year was my 1st and I will warn you, this hobby is worse than some fancy drug, you just can't get enough, you will always want more!
Anyway, good luck.
yeah today we tapped to got 100 in today. sap is flowing good up(or down) here. good luck
Good luck David! Like Dennis, last year was my first also. It's very rewarding when you have finished syrup you made yourself.
Have fun!
Has anyone made more syrup than they could sell in a year though?
Buckeye,
I always want to make more syrup than I can retail. Never want a customer to see a sold out sign and go elsewhere, they might not be back! Any left over when the new season begins will go to condiments or to the bulk buyer.
Tapped 125 today, they were running so-so. High only hit about 42 today, it was supposed to get warmer. Weather man says warming overnight tonight, so hoping for full buckets tomorrow. Another 25 to tap tomorrow, and let-er run, I'm ready to fire up the evap, and make steam!
Happy tapping to all, and good luck!
I put in 1000 taps in my sleep last night, but when I woke up this morning I remembered I am a year off before I do that. So I decided to get on here and listen to everyone else's tapping stories, makes the dreams more realistic!!!!
Yo Buckeye,
You gotta put some out this year, even if you run the turkey friers like some of these other guys. Having every little bit of experience under your belt will make your next big step that much more easier. Better to screw up a few small batches than a big batch next year. Plus, there is nothing like having you own liquid gold!
