Does anyone out there use a 140 qt mixer for making sugar? If so how many gallons can you do at a time? How do you heat it? We have a 30 qt mixer and can do 2½ gallon at a time. Looking to go bigger. Much bigger.

You could get the biggest mixer in the world but you would still have to figure out how to boil the syrup to a high enough temperature. High pressure steam is the only option and you would have to invest some serious $$$ and make a seriously large amount of sugar to make it worthwhile. Bascom's and Butternut have cracked that nut...
just using the math thats 12gal batches. bigger issue is space and climate control to sift and "cure" time.
A camp near you in Garrett County Maryland made over 3800 pound of Sugar last year, they must have some easy way too make that much. Doesn’t a gallon produce 8 pounds? That over 450 gallons of syrup turned into sugar?

This is how you do it, Matt. Spray drying... only $135,000 for a decent used system.
