Hi yall so trying to decide what to do with a floor in shack i want to build. Could someone tell me about how much insulation there needs to be between a wood floor and the bottom of the firebox? Also you that have wood floors is it easy to clean? Thanks!
I don’t have the answer to your question, but when I build my next more permanent sugar shack, I will also have wood floors, but I will pour a concrete pad for the evaporator to sit on, with the concrete pad extending out 3 or 4 feet from the front door of the evaporator to catch any sparks. I then would build the wood floor around the pad. That would be about 20 bags of concrete depending on your evaporator size and thickness of the pad.
So basicly you will have a hole in the floor where the concrete pad is? The price is only 80 dollars in concrete with a little work! Not bad! I have a 2x6. that sounds like a great Idea! Thanks!!!!
