I have not pulled and vacuum with it I have only push sap with it. I have it hooked up to my releaser tank. I have put my hand over the drain and does produce strong vacuum. Mine is hooked up to 5.5 hp Honda at vary little over idle I use 2 1/2 gallons of gas every 24 hours. I think it would definitely out perform the 2 diaphragm guzzler. I would try it but it’s the heart of my operation right now. And they are really easy to work on.
I hope that the pump is different than the one used to pump water or sap. Are those diaphragms made for long term running dry, like the little ones?
Mine ran for 5 days straight and my releaser would release every 7 minutes and it would take less than 30 seconds or so to to get the sap out of the releaser tank so to would be 6 1/2 minutes or so of dry running.
I have been running a Hypro D252 for almost 20 years now. Works great! I have seen almost 26 inches on the vacuum gauge. I have had diaphragms last 5 years but now i replace them at the beginning of the season so I don't have to worry about them. I disassemble the pump when I buy it, clean out the oil and run vegetable oil just to be safe. I will be adding one to a 300 tap sugar bush for the 2021 season.
Which hypro pump are you guys talking about? I'm intrigued.
The one I am using is the 9910D252. I have it belt drive with a 3/4 hp. electric motor. My next one will be with a 1/2hp. motor. You will need to size the pulleys to get the correct rpm of the pump. No releaser is needed with these pumps.
I run a D70. 19.5 gpm
How many taps do you have on that D70?
