Just wondering what % dryness everyone is looking for in there wood. I've got wood ranging from 8% to 16%. What's the nominal percentage ?

8-16 is good. I burn anything under 20 percent.

I have never checked my wood moisture. Everything we burn is dead ash and well seasoned.

Same - under 20% is what I’m aiming for.

When checking the moisture content do not check it in the end grain. That gives a false reading. Split a piece of wood in half and check it in the center. That will give you a true reading.
